The origins and development of the fascinating variety of continents, countries and communities of the world are the engrossing subjects of the present prize set of 17 Vols. in 34 Parts of the encyclopaedia. With marvelously lucid text and equally graphic illustrations, the writers and editors present a panoramic account of the splendid variety of the family of mankind, its numerous and varied habitations, its physical, human and economic geography of man and his activities, and the living dynamic relation that mankind had with fellow communities across land and sea as well as with the planet that sustains all of them. The World Encyclopaedia of Nations and Nationalities opens to students, teachers and general readers a vast and beautiful window onto the great as well as the little known customs, manners and cultures of the world, reveals the universal geographical features and singularities of all countries in the continents, the introduces in vivid detail the many kind of inhabitants that are found world-wide. Not only is this brilliantly conceived encyclopaedia the pride of many libraries across the world, but it is also regarded as an apt companion and complement to the earlier historic work of Darwin, namely, Origin of the Species. In its comprehensive sweep and vibrant treatment the present the present volumes of this encyclopaedia will be an essential part of all libraries.

About the works of Florentin Smarandache have been written a lot of books (he himself wrote dozens of books and articles regarding math, physics, literature, philosophy). Being a globally recognized personality in both mathematics (there are countless functions and concepts that bear his name) and literature, it is natural that the volume of writings about his research is huge. What we try to do with this encyclopedia is to gather together as much as we can both from Smarandache’s mathematical work and the works of many mathematicians around the world inspired by the Smarandache notions. We structured this book using numbered Definitions, Theorems, Conjectures, Notes and Comments, in order to facilitate an easier reading but also to facilitate references to a specific paragraph. We divided the Bibliography in two parts, Writings by Florentin Smarandache (indexed by the name of books and articles) and Writings on Smarandache notions (indexed by the name of authors). We treated, in this book, about 130 Smarandache type sequences, about 50 Smarandache type functions and many solved or open problems of number theory. We also have, at the end of this book, a proposal for a new Smarandache type notion, id est the concept of “a set of Smarandache-Coman divisors of order k of a composite positive integer n with m prime factors”, notion that seems to have promising applications, at a first glance at least in the study of absolute and relative Fermat pseudoprimes, Carmichael numbers and Poulet numbers. This encyclopedia is both for researchers that will have on hand a tool that will help them “navigate” in the universe of Smarandache type notions and for young math enthusiasts: many of them will be attached by this wonderful branch of mathematics, number theory, reading the works of Florentin Smarandache.

The Discrete Math Workbook written by Sergei Kurgalin and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-08-12 with Computers categories.

This practically-focused study guide introduces the fundamentals of discrete mathematics through an extensive set of classroom-tested problems. Each chapter presents a concise introduction to the relevant theory, followed by a detailed account of common challenges and methods for overcoming these. The reader is then encouraged to practice solving such problems for themselves, by tackling a varied selection of questions and assignments of different levels of complexity. This updated second edition now covers the design and analysis of algorithms using Python, and features more than 50 new problems, complete with solutions. Topics and features: provides a substantial collection of problems and examples of varying levels of difficulty, suitable for both laboratory practical training and self-study; offers detailed solutions to each problem, applying commonly-used methods and computational schemes; introduces the fundamentals of mathematical logic, the theory of algorithms, Boolean algebra, graph theory, sets, relations, functions, and combinatorics; presents more advanced material on the design and analysis of algorithms, including Turing machines, asymptotic analysis, and parallel algorithms; includes reference lists of trigonometric and finite summation formulae in an appendix, together with basic rules for differential and integral calculus. This hands-on workbook is an invaluable resource for undergraduate students of computer science, informatics, and electronic engineering. Suitable for use in a one- or two-semester course on discrete mathematics, the text emphasizes the skills required to develop and implement an algorithm in a specific programming language.

Encyclopedia Of Distances written by Michel Marie Deza and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-08-16 with Mathematics categories.

This 4-th edition of the leading reference volume on distance metrics is characterized by updated and rewritten sections on some items suggested by experts and readers, as well a general streamlining of content and the addition of essential new topics. Though the structure remains unchanged, the new edition also explores recent advances in the use of distances and metrics for e.g. generalized distances, probability theory, graph theory, coding theory, data analysis. New topics in the purely mathematical sections include e.g. the Vitanyi multiset-metric, algebraic point-conic distance, triangular ratio metric, Rossi-Hamming metric, Taneja distance, spectral semimetric between graphs, channel metrization, and Maryland bridge distance. The multidisciplinary sections have also been supplemented with new topics, including: dynamic time wrapping distance, memory distance, allometry, atmospheric depth, elliptic orbit distance, VLBI distance measurements, the astronomical system of units, and walkability distance. Leaving aside the practical questions that arise during the selection of a ‘good’ distance function, this work focuses on providing the research community with an invaluable comprehensive listing of the main available distances. As well as providing standalone introductions and definitions, the encyclopedia facilitates swift cross-referencing with easily navigable bold-faced textual links to core entries. In addition to distances themselves, the authors have collated numerous fascinating curiosities in their Who’s Who of metrics, including distance-related notions and paradigms that enable applied mathematicians in other sectors to deploy research tools that non-specialists justly view as arcane. In expanding access to these techniques, and in many cases enriching the context of distances themselves, this peerless volume is certain to stimulate fresh research.
