"The year 1870 marks an epoch in the history of the South. It witnessed not only the death of Robert E. Lee but the passing also of John Pendleton Kennedy, George Denison Prentice, Augustus Baldwin Longstreet, and William Gilmore Simms. In literature it was not only the end of the old but the beginning of the new, for in 1870 the new movement in Southern literature may be said to have been inaugurated in the work of Irwin Russell. I have attempted elsewhere to trace briefly the chronological outlines of this literature from 1870 to the present time. In this paper, therefore, I shall discuss not the history of this literature but rather the history in this literature." -An excerpt

Public Administration And Public Policy written by Dr. Alok Verma and has been published by K.K. Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-01-09 with Political Science categories.

Public Administration and Public Policy A living democracy is “an environment that is changing, organic”, imperfect, inconsistent and teaming with values. Stewardship is emphasized because public administration is concerned with accountability and effective use of scarce resources and ultimately making the connection between the doing, the making and democratic values. More recently scholars claim that public administration has no generally accepted definition because the scope of the subject is so great and so debatable that it is easier to explain than define. Public administration is a field of study (i.e., a discipline) and an occupation. There is much disagreement about whether the study of public administration can properly be called a discipline, largely because of the debate over whether public administration is a subfield of political science or a subfield of administrative science. Scholar Donald Kettl is among those who view public administration as a subfield within political science. Public policy is the principled guide to action taken by the administrative executive branches of the state with regard to a class of issues in a manner consistent with law and institutional customs. In general, the foundation is the pertinent national and substantial constitutional law and implementing legislation such as the US Federal code. Further substrates include both judicial interpretations and regulations which are generally authorized by legislation. Shaping public policy is a complex and multifaceted process that involves the interplay of numerous individuals and interest groups competing and collaborating to influence policymakers to act in a particular way. These individuals and groups use a variety of tactics and tools to advance their aims, including advocating their positions publicly, attempting to educate supporters and opponents, and mobilizing allies on a particular issue. Often, the need for public policy develops over time. In the past, there might’ve been no way to prevent the problem from occurring, but with current technologies, a solution may appear. Public Policy is easier to establish when it affects smaller groups of people. This book is offered with the hope that it will be a constant companion for students of this subject. Contents: • Critical Appraisal of the Existing Classification System • Financial Administration • Research Methodology-Research Methods in Social Sciences • Structure of District Administration • Social and Economic Administration • The Concepts of Liberalisation • Public Policy – Meaning, Types and Significance • Concept of Social Welfare

The author of Publish and Perish returns with a Faustian tale of the horrors of academe Nelson Humbolt is a visiting adjunct English lecturer at prestigious Midwest University, until he is unceremoniously fired one autumn morning. Minutes after the axe falls, his right index finger is severed in a freak accident. Doctors manage to reattach the finger, but when the bandages come off, Nelson realizes that he has acquired a strange power--he can force his will onto others with a touch of his finger. And so he obtains an extension on the lease of his university-owned townhouse and picks up two sections of freshman composition, saving his career from utter ruin. But soon these victories seem inconsequential, and Nelson's finger burns for even greater glory. Now the Midas of academia wonders if he can attain what every struggling assistant professor and visiting lecturer covets--tenure. A pitch-perfect blend of satire and horror, The Lecturer's Tale paints a gruesomely clever portrait of life in academia.
