Energy Sustainability And The Environment written by Fereidoon P. Sioshansi and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-06-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The complexity of carbon reduction and economic sustainability is significantly complicated by competing aspects of socioeconomic practices as well as legislative, regulatory, and scientific requirements and protocols. An easy to read and understand guide, Sioshansi, along with an international group of contributors, moves through the maze of carbon reduction methods and technologies, providing steps and insights to meet carbon reduction requirements and maintaining the health and welfare of the firm. The book’s three part treatment is based on a clear and rigorous exposition of a wide range of options to reduce the carbon footprint Part 1 of the book, Challenge of Sustainability, examines the fundamental drivers of energy demand – economic growth, the need for basic energy services, and the interdependence of economic, political, environmental, social, equity, legacy and policy issues. Part 2 of the book, Technological Solutions, examines how energy can be used to support basic energy service needs of homes, commercial and industrial facilities and for other applications. Part 3 of the book, case studies, covers a number of innovative projects, initiatives, concepts or self-imposed targets in different parts of the world with the aim of significantly reducing energy use and carbon footprint of a company, a community, a city or an entire country. There was a widespread recognition among environmental engineers and energy economist of the importance of carbon reduction while sustaining the firm’s economic growth. The only book to bring together both subjects into one easy to understand reference, Carbon Reduction and Economic Sustainability not only clearly explains which option has the lowest energy/carbon footprint but also which option would better suit the business in question. This includes carbon reduction for residential, transport, industrial and public sectors. The only book to clearly explain the economic and environmental engineering aspects of carbon reduction. Case studies taken from a number of international projects. Carbon reduction options for all sectors of society. The role of the planning system in carbon reduction.

"While sustainable growth confronts a progressively decisive role, and governments embrace measures to authorize reduced carbon emissions, understanding pioneering methods to provide supply chains in an environmental context epitomizes a significant purpose in diverse sectors. This book, An In-depth Look at Carbon Emissions, concentrates on carbon emissions in different sectors owing to energy use and associated features. It gives an overview of recently established systems, practices, methods, and strategies accompanied by exploiting sufficient source examination of carbon emissions that are released from fossil fuel/hydrocarbon reservoirs, automobiles, transportation, agricultural terrains, farms, buildings, and so forth. In recent years, global carbon emissions have reached an all-time high and are increasing. It is high time that we pay specific consideration to carbon emissions and comprehend potential solutions, especially to meet the Paris climate agreement objective. This book will offer established approaches to cut carbon, with studies on transportation, home energy use, energy consumption, as well as how best to inspire the workplace and community by behavior. This book aims at empowering readers to meet the possibility of low carbon living to challenge our society's utmost threats. This book will surely provide state-of-the-art materials in abundance for implementing energy conservation measures and carbon emission reduction"--

Impact Of Combined Heat And Power On Energy Use And Carbon Emissions In The Dry Mill Ethanol Process written by and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Alcohol as fuel categories.

Dry mill ethanol plants have traditionally used natural gas as the process fuel for production. Natural gas is used to raise steam for mash cooking, distillation, and evaporation. It is also used directly in DGS dryers and in thermal oxidizers that destroy the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) present in the dryer exhaust. The industry has made great progress in reducing energy consumption since its start in the 1980s; to produce a gallon of ethanol, today's dry mill plants only use about half of the energy used by the earliest plants. Still, natural gas prices are on the rise, and energy costs are second only to raw material costs in the dry mill process. These factors are driving the industry to undertake further efforts to reduce energy use, or to switch from natural gas to other fuels such as coal, wood chips, or even the use of DGS and other process byproducts.
