In this book, the reader learns the essential differences to the passenger car through the analysis divided according to assemblies. This gives him the tools to apply the detailed knowledge acquired to the design and development of competition vehicles. In the case of internal combustion engines, the focus is on performance-enhancing measures for racing vehicles. From the choice of the number of cylinders to the intake system to the exhaust system, the lever can be applied to every assembly. For electric drives, the traction battery, cell selection, cooling and operating strategy are considered in more detail. Energy recovery systems are an interesting enhancement for hybrid vehicles and all-electric powertrains, especially in strategic considerations for racing. Finally, gearboxes are needed independently of the drive source, albeit matched to it, so that the full potential can be exploited. The detailed, in-depth presentation makes this work just as suitable for the interested motorsport enthusiast as it is for the engineer in the field who is addressing the issues surrounding race car powertrains. The formula material is prepared in such a way that the book can also be used as a reference work.

Natural Gas Engines written by Kalyan Kumar Srinivasan and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-11-03 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book covers the various advanced reciprocating combustion engine technologies that utilize natural gas and alternative fuels for transportation and power generation applications. It is divided into three major sections consisting of both fundamental and applied technologies to identify (but not limited to) clean, high-efficiency opportunities with natural gas fueling that have been developed through experimental protocols, numerical and high-performance computational simulations, and zero-dimensional, multizone combustion simulations. Particular emphasis is placed on statutes to monitor fine particulate emissions from tailpipe of engines operating on natural gas and alternative fuels.

Engine Emissions written by George Springer and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Science categories.
In recent years, emissions from transportation engines have been studied widely because of the contribution of such engines to atmospheric pollution. During this period the amounts of pollutants emitted, the mechanism of their formation, and means of controlling emissions have been investigated in industrial and government laboratories, as well as at universities. The results of these investigations have generally been published as individual articles in journals, transactions, meeting proceedings, and, frequently, in company reports. This proliferation of technical information makes it difficult for workers in the field to keep abreast of all developments. For this reason, the editors felt the need for a book which would survey the existing state of knowledge in wide, albeit selected areas, and would provide a guide to the relevant literature. This book is intended to fulfill this function. It is recognized that all aspects of transportation engine emissions cannot be explored in a single volume. In this book attention is focused primarily on sources and mechanisms of emission formation within the combustion process, and on measurement techniques. Beyond this objective, no re strictions were placed on the authors. Within the framework of the general theme each author has been free to treat his subject as he saw fit. The editors have not strived to replace by uniformity the highly personal and attractive divergences of style. Considerable efforts were made, however, to ensure clarity and minimum overlap between the chapters.

Medieval Sieges written by Sabine Lorca and has been published by Publifye AS this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-03-21 with History categories.
Medieval sieges, a critical aspect of military history, involved more than just brute force. From 500 to 1500 AD, siege warfare was a complex interplay of strategy, technology, and psychology. The success of a siege depended on logistical planning, engineering prowess, and exploiting vulnerabilities in the enemy's defenses. Starvation, disease, and psychological tactics were as crucial as battering rams and trebuchets in determining the outcome of these conflicts. Medieval Sieges explores the multifaceted nature of these engagements. It delves into siege tactics and engineering, defensive innovations like concentric castles, and the grim realities of starvation and disease. Specific historical examples, such as the sieges of Constantinople, Acre, and Orleans, illustrate the interplay between offensive and defensive strategies. The book progresses from fundamental principles to offensive and defensive technologies, psychological warfare, and long-term societal consequences. The book uncovers how sieges influenced military technology, power dynamics, and the social fabric of the era. It integrates military history with social and cultural history, providing a nuanced understanding of siege warfare, emphasizing the human dimensions of these prolonged and brutal conflicts.
