Modern computing management systems and application programs are often de signed as open systems. In an open environment, the users' application programs serving similar purposes, though possibly implemented using different hardware or software tech nologies, can interact easily and properly with one other. But, it is a big challenge in research and development to provide the means for integrating these technologies and reengineering the new or existing management systems so as to make all of the relevant components interoperable. In case of databases, because of the variety in data models and theory, the interoper ability and reengineering issues become even more complex and crucial, especially for companies heavily involved in data management. With the rapid advances in networking and database modeling technology, old issues may have to be reinvestigated and new issues come up constantly. It is our hope that this year's workshop, the sixth in a series of annual events, can provide a timely forum for database researchers and practitioners to share their recent experience and results in various aspects of this fast -developing field. This series of workshops has been organized by the Hong Kong Computer Society and financially supported by many local industrial and business companies. This year, the Cooperative Research Centre for Open Systems Technology, located in the Department of Computer Science, City University of Hong Kong, has joined the organization team and the list of financial sponsors.

Multi Enterprise File Transfer With Websphere Connectivity written by Carla Sadtler and has been published by IBM Redbooks this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-09-10 with Computers categories.
This IBM® Redbooks® publication describes how to exchange data between applications running in two separate enterprises reliably and securely. This book includes an overview of the concepts of managed file transfer, the technologies that can be used, and common topologies for file transfer solutions. It then provides four scenarios that address different requirements. These scenarios provide a range of options that can be suited to your individual needs. This book is intended for anyone who needs to design or develop a file transfer solution for his enterprise. The first scenario shows the use of an HTTPS web gateway to allow files to be transferred from an external web client to an internal WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition backbone network. This option uses the WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition Web Gateway SupportPac FO02. The second scenario uses the WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition bridge agent to allow files to be transferred from an external File Transfer Protocol (FTP)/Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) server to a WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition backbone network The third scenario extends the concept of file transfer between enterprises by introducing more sophisticated transfer capabilities, along with enhanced security. This scenario uses the IBM WebSphere DataPower B2B Appliance XB60 to look at the specific case of file transfers between business partners. The last scenario also illustrates the integration of the IBM WebSphere DataPower B2B Appliance XB60 and WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition, but in this case, non-business-to-business protocols are used. The file transfer is further enhanced through the use of WebSphere® Message Broker to mediate the file transfer for routing and protocol transformation within the enterprise.

Enterprise Data Warehouse Optimization With Hadoop On Ibm Power Systems Servers written by Scott Vetter and has been published by IBM Redbooks this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-01-31 with Computers categories.
Data warehouses were developed for many good reasons, such as providing quick query and reporting for business operations, and business performance. However, over the years, due to the explosion of applications and data volume, many existing data warehouses have become difficult to manage. Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes are taking longer, missing their allocated batch windows. In addition, data types that are required for business analysis have expanded from structured data to unstructured data. The Apache open source Hadoop platform provides a great alternative for solving these problems. IBM® has committed to open source since the early years of open Linux. IBM and Hortonworks together are committed to Apache open source software more than any other company. IBM Power SystemsTM servers are built with open technologies and are designed for mission-critical data applications. Power Systems servers use technology from the OpenPOWER Foundation, an open technology infrastructure that uses the IBM POWER® architecture to help meet the evolving needs of big data applications. The combination of Power Systems with Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) provides users with a highly efficient platform that provides leadership performance for big data workloads such as Hadoop and Spark. This IBM RedpaperTM publication provides details about Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) optimization with Hadoop on Power Systems. Many people know Power Systems from the IBM AIX® platform, but might not be familiar with IBM PowerLinuxTM, so part of this paper provides a Power Systems overview. A quick introduction to Hadoop is provided for those not familiar with the topic. Details of HDP on Power Reference architecture are included that will help both software architects and infrastructure architects understand the design. In the optimization chapter, we describe various topics: traditional EDW offload, sizing guidelines, performance tuning, IBM Elastic StorageTM Server (ESS) for data-intensive workload, IBM Big SQL as the common structured query language (SQL) engine for Hadoop platform, and tools that are available on Power Systems that are related to EDW optimization. We also dedicate some pages to the analytics components (IBM Data Science Experience (IBM DSX) and IBM SpectrumTM Conductor for Spark workload) for the Hadoop infrastructure.

This book is a result of the ISD'99, Eight International Conference on Infonnation Systems Development-Methods and Tools, Theory, and Practice held August 11-13, 1999 in Boise, Idaho, USA. The purpose of this conference was to address the issues facing academia and industry when specifying, developing, managing, and improving infonnation systems. ISD'99 consisted not only of the technical program represented in these Proceedings, but also of plenary sessions on product support and content management systems for the Internet environment, workshop on a new paradigm for successful acquisition of infonnation systems, and a panel discussion on current pedagogical issues in systems analysis and design. The selection of papers for ISD'99 was carried out by the International Program Committee. Papers presented during the conference and printed in this volume have been selected from submissions after fonnal double-blind reviewing process and have been revised by their authors based on the recommendations of reviewers. Papers were judged according to their originality, relevance, and presentation quality. All papers were judged purely on their own merits, independently of other submissions. We would like to thank the authors of papers accepted for ISD'99 who all made gallant efforts to provide us with electronic copies of their manuscripts confonning to common guidelines. We thank them for thoughtfully responding to reviewers comments and carefully preparing their final contributions. We thank Daryl Jones, provost of Boise State University and William Lathen, dean, College of Business and Economics, for their support and encouragement.
