Elas não possuem as mesmas histórias, elas não são as mesmas pessoas. No entanto, em respeito e a fim de honrar as Pretas que compuseram esse livro optei por não fantasiar seus nomes. Não aqui. Ao longo de vinte anos no ensino público estadual e municipal no Rio de Janeiro e nos últimos cinco anos de atuação no coletivo Pais Pretos Presentes junto a famílias pretas, pobres e periféricas em situação de vulnerabilidade social, percebo algumas inquietações predominantes entre tais famílias, o poder público e os profissionais que mediam essa relação. O que é a paternidade? Como se comunicar com filhos adolescentes? O cuidado tem gênero? Do que as famílias precisam? Como interromper o ciclo de reprodução de preconceitos, julgamentos e padrões socialmente impostos nas famílias? Como se qualificar para a adoção?
