Religion Migration And Business written by María Villares-Varela and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-07 with Social Science categories.

This book critically interrogates the role of religious faith in the experiences and practices of migrant entrepreneurs against the backdrop of neoliberal Britain. Focussing on Pentecostalism, a popular Christian denomination amongst migrant groups in the UK, the authors draw on primary qualitative data to examine the ways in which Pentecostal beliefs and values influence the aspirations and practices of migrant entrepreneurs. The book also explores the role of Pentecostal churches in supporting entrepreneurial activities among migrant communities, arguing that these institutions simultaneously comply and contest the formation of neoliberal subjectivities: providing cultural legitimacy to the entrepreneurial subject, whilst also contesting the community erosion of neoliberalism, (particularly in an austerity context) and fostering a strong a sense of belonging among congregants. The book offers an interdisciplinary perspective spanning sociology, geography and entrepreneurship studies to explain how values and faith networks shape everyday life, work and entrepreneurial practices.

'I wish this book had been around when I tried to teach about entrepreneurship in its social context; life would have been much easier with these informed sources.' – Alistair R. Anderson, Aberdeen Business School, UK This rich and detailed book makes a very timely contribution to extending our understanding of entrepreneurship in its social context. Using selected examples, the respected contributors show how the values developed in religious beliefs and practices shape entrepreneurship. For too long the entrepreneur has been characterized as an isolated, economically driven individual, thus ignoring how enterprise and entrepreneurs are products of their society, their culture and their religion. This innovative book discusses both entrepreneurship and religion, as well as indicating how the synthesis of beliefs and practices combine in entrepreneurial endeavours. It provides a conceptually useful way of framing the individualistic entrepreneur in his or her social and cultural context, demonstrating how entrepreneurial agency operates within and through a variety of religious contexts. Illustrated with original photographs, this captivating book will be warmly welcomed by students and researchers with interests in entrepreneurship, sociology, religion and cultural studies. Government policy-makers in immigration will also find this book an invaluable read.

THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ FOR EVERY CHRISTIAN BUSINESS OWNER... God has called you for such a time as this! In this powerful book, Min. James L. Standfield, "The Authority On Biblical Entrepreneurship" gives the Christian Entrepreneur the scriptures they need for Entrepreneurial Success. I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent, And give Him no rest till He establishes. Isaiah 62:6-7 The Hebrew word for "make mention" is zakar and means to remember, to remind, to cause to remember. "You who make mention of the LORD" are literally the Lord's remembrancer's. Their job is to remind Him relentlessly of His word until He has established what He has promised. God has a wonderful memory, but He is not one bit offended by His people reminding Him of those things He has spoken. How long are we to remind God of His promises? He tells His watchmen to give Him no rest until He establishes what He has promised. This calls for faith, patience and persistence. The Christian Entrepreneur is not to give up on reminding God of His Word until they see all the things He has promised to establish in their business.

Spiritual Leadership In The Entrepreneurial Business written by Mario Fernando and has been published by Edward Elgar Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Religion categories.

In this well informed, insightful and comprehensive study, Mario Fernando critically explores the complex and multiform interplay of management theory and practice, personal biographies, theologies of faith and cultural dynamics in order to elaborate and advance a coherent theory of spiritual leadership. George Gotsis and Zoe Kortezi, Entrepreneurship and Innovation In this example of science and theory meeting emerging reality, Mario Fernando delves into the complex dimensions of the interplay of the science of management, theologies of faith, and the dynamics of culture to first understand and then construct and advance a theory of spiritual leadership. With real world insights and reflections from himself and others, he addresses theory to practice implications and cautions against creating just another fad. This insightful and thought-provoking book provides a timely read and focus for reflection for organizational leaders concerned with success in the new age economy and global society, and who seek a path to understand their own personal and pragmatic spiritual leadership grounding. Gary D. Geroy, Colorado State University, US The book will be an important contribution to the literature and will certainly open up some new avenues of research and inquiry. Ralph L. Piedmont, Loyola College in Maryland, US Although interest in workplace spirituality continues to soar, the literature and empirical research on non-Western, non-Christian spirituality in entrepreneurship and leadership is almost non-existent. Mario Fernando s unique study fills the gap in the literature, exploring cross-cultural and religious distinctions of the contemporary meaning and enactment of spirituality in organizations. Case studies of thirteen influential, spiritually motivated Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Muslim entrepreneurs are used to explore the significant impact of religion upon the management and leadership of an organization. The book concludes that although each entrepreneur s outward practice of spiritual leadership conformed to personal religious beliefs, these practices had two common aims: a connection with self, others and/or an ultimate reality, and a need to direct and motivate self and/or others to develop an organizational culture founded on a sense of shared community. This unique and fascinating work will strongly appeal to entrepreneurship, leadership and business and management researchers and scholars with a particular interest in the interplay between entrepreneurship and spiritual leadership.

Cast the net on the right side Two thousand years ago some experienced fishermen stepped into a boat for a catch. They had the right tools, knowledge and expertise to be successful. They spend an entire night at sea, but their net remained empty. Confused discouraged and disappointed they returned to shore. As they neared the shore they were given an instruction by a man in the distance. The instruction was simple yet very profound. The man instructed them to try again, but this time cast the net on the right side. As experienced fishermen, they had all the reasons to question this instruction but with new hope they returned to sea. They casted their net with faith and returned to shore with a catch. The journey to success in entrepreneurship doesn't always advance as planned and failure, deception and doubt are not uncommon. Many books have been written about best practices and strategies to accelerate success in entrepreneurship. Nevertheless, these best practices and strategies cannot prepare you for the ambiguous trials, tribulations and obstacles that will occur. These challenging moments don't require application of such theories but rather the right traits of character along with hope and faith. This book will investigate the spiritual aspects of entrepreneurship and give you a whole new perspective on this topic. I trust that after reading this book you also will cast your net on the right side. Lysandro Inacio has dedicated the last years of his entrepreneurial career sharing his testimonies about how he evolved from a loyal employee into an entrepreneur driven by faith. He has mentored and coached many aspiring entrepreneurs to pursue their purpose in entrepreneurship with faith rather than optimism. His experiences during his entrepreneurial career have shaped his faith and increased his understanding about God's principles for entrepreneurship.
