EPR of Free Radicals in Solids: Trends in Methods and Applications, 2nd ed. presents a critical two volume review of the methods and applications of EPR (ESR) for the study of free radical processes in solids. Emphasis is on the progress made in the developments in EPR technology, in the application of sophisticated matrix isolation techniques and in the advancement in quantitative EPR that have occurred since the 1st edition was published. Improvements have been made also at theoretical level, with the development of methods based on first principles and their application to the calculation of magnetic properties as well as in spectral simulations. EPR of Free Radicals in Solids I focuses on the trends in experimental and theoretical methods to extract structural and dynamical properties of radicals and spin probes in solid matrices by continuous wave (CW) and pulsed techniques. It presents simulation techniques and software for CW and pulsed EPR as well as studies of quantum effects at low temperature. The chapters dealing with quantum chemistry methods for the theoretical interpretation of hyperfine coupling tensors and g-tensors have been much extended in this edition and a new chapter on the calculation of zero-field splitting tensors has been added. This new edition is a valuable resource to experimentalists and theoreticians in research involving free radicals, as well as for students of advanced courses in physical chemistry, chemical physics, materials science, biophysics, biochemistry and related fields. EPR of Free Radicals in Solids: Trends in Methods and Applications presents methods and applications of modern EPR for the study of free radical processes in solids, which so far are only available in the journal literature. The first part of the book, covering trends in methods, contains experimentally oriented chapters on continuous wave and pulsed EPR techniques and special methods involving muon magnetic resonance and optical detection and theory for dynamic studies. New simulation schemes, including the influence of dynamics, are presented as well as advances in the calculation of hyperfine and electronic g-tensors. The second part of the book presents applications involving studies of radiation and photo-induced inorganic and organic radicals in inert matrices, including novel results of quantum effects in small radicals. High-spin molecules and complexes are also considered as well as radical processes in photosynthesis. Recent advances in EPR dosimetry are summarized.

EPR of Free Radicals in Solids II focuses on the trends in applications of experimental and theoretical methods to extract structural and dynamical properties of radicals and spin probes in solid matrices by continuous wave (CW) and pulsed techniques in nine chapters written by experts in the field. It examines the studies involving radiation- and photo-induced inorganic and organic radicals in inert matrices, the high-spin molecules and metal-based molecular clusters as well as the radical pro-cesses in photosynthesis. Recent advancements in environmental applications in-cluding measurements by myon resonance of radicals on surfaces and by quantitative EPR in dosimetry are outlined and the applications of optical detection in material research with much increased sensitivity reviewed. The potential use of EPR in quantum computing is considered in a newly written chapter. This new edition is aimed to experimentalists and theoreticians in research involving free radicals, as well as for students of advanced courses in physical chemis-try, chemical physics, materials science, biophysics, biochemistry and related fields.

Multifrequency Electron Paramagnetic Resonance written by Sushil K. Misra and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-03-19 with Science categories.

This handbook is aimed to deliver an up-to-date account of some of the recently developed experimental and theoretical methods in EPR, as well as a complete up-to-date listing of the experimentally determined values of multifrequency transition-ion spin Hamiltonian parameters by Sushil Misra, reported in the past 20 years, extending such a listing published by him in the Handbook on Electron Spin Resonance, volume 2. This extensive data tabulation makes up roughly 60% of the book`s content. It is complemented by the first full compilation of hyperfine splittings and g-factors for aminoxyl (nitroxide) radicals since 197 by Larry Berliner, a world expert on spin labeling, helping to identify and interpret substances and processes by means of EPR techniques. The book also includes coverage of the recently developed experimental technique of rapid-scan EPR by Sandra Eaton and Gareth Eaton, and a thorough review of computational modeling in EPR by Stefan Stoll, author of Easy Spin.

A convenient single volume handbook featuring the most important topics in spectroscopy This valuable handbook is based on topics presented in the CRC Handbook of Spectroscopy, Volumes I and II, published in 1974, and Volume III, published in 1981. The information has been condensed (by the original contributor, when possible) so that only the most important information from the original three volumes has been retained and updated. The topics covered include ESCA flame photometry; atomic absorption and emission spectroscopy, including plasma emission; infrared spectroscopy; Raman spectroscopy; ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy; electron spin resonance, X-ray spectroscopy, mass photoelectric absorption coefficients, appearance potential spectroscopy, thermal neutron cross sections and resonance integrals for activation analysis, tables of experimental values of X-ray fluorescence and Coster-Kronig yields for the K-, L-, and M-shells. Other topics include 14 MeV neutron activation cross sections; wavelength standards in visible, ultraviolet, and near-infrared spectroscopy; electron affinities, wavelength-dependent and electronic system oscillator strengths for free diatomic molecules of astrophysical importance; electron spin resonance applicaton to the study of minerals and glasses; experimental lifetimes, Franck-Condon factors; and vibrational and rotational oscillator strengths. The concise format and wealth of information ensures that no spectroscopist will want to be without the updated and revised Practical Handbook of Spectroscopy.
