"Il mattino dell'8 settembre 1943, a noi, duecento reclute del 39 Rgt. Art. d'Armata, fu data la sveglia più presto del solito. Il programma era tutto nuovo. Si doveva andare in distaccamento a Bibbiano, distante poco più di 20 Km da Reggio Emilia, per fare qualche esercitazione un po' più militaresca, ma soprattutto per lasciare sgombra la piazza d'armi non so bene per quali altri arrivi". Iniziò così la tragedia di Enzo Furiozzi che con altri migliaia venne fatto prigioniero e portato in Germania con carri bestiame. Internato prima nel "Kriegsgefangenerlager II A", il campo di concentramento di Neubrandenburg con il numero 102028 e poi nello Stalag 269 a Wipperfhürt, a una trentina di chilometri a nord-ovest di Colonia, nel cuore della Renania, Furiozzi perse casualmente lo status di I.M.I. (Internato Militare Italiano). Fu così che fortunosamente ottenne la possibilità del rimpatrio come civile non più abile al lavoro e, una volta giunto in patria, entrò a far parte della Resistenza.

La storia parte dall’analisi del processo evolutivo che la memoria storica del periodo resistenziale con la successiva emanazione della Carta Costituzionale ha registrato negli anni. Un percorso molto travagliato e segnato dall’avvicendarsi di eventi terroristici, eversivi e stragisti con la partecipazione anche di associazioni massoniche e agenti stranieri. Non manca un cenno alla rivoluzione partita dal Movimento Studentesco del ‘68-69 con relativi risultati. Giunge così a chiedersi come può oggi interessare e raggiungere le nuove generazioni. Quindi viene a prendere in esame gl’inizi dell’organizzazione della lotta partigiana subito dopo l’8 settembre nel nord - Italia e precisamente nelle Valli Valdesi in provincia di Torino per omaggiare amici/che e fratelli /sorelle delle Valli, cui l’autore si sente sinceramente legato da vincoli di fede e di fraternità. Anche se nel sud con lo sbarco degli Alleati in Sicilia fin dal 10 luglio del ‘43 la lotta al nazifascismo comincia molto prima dell’8 settembre. Dunque, viene rivalutata la storiografia locale meridionale con la lotta per la terra e l’intervento di Giuseppe Di Vittorio, per lo più sconosciuta a quella ufficiale. In conclusione si rivolge ancora a giovani e a quanti hanno a cuore la conservazione della pace, della democrazia e della giustizia sociale senza porsi limiti culturali e/o di nazionalità.

Memoirs of a Jew who was born in London in 1925 to a wealthy Italian family. Her father was the representative of the Banca d'Italia in Britain. In 1934 the family (parents and three children) returned to Rome. Due to the Racial Laws of 1938, Nathan's father lost his job and the passports of the family were confiscated. From 1938 to 1943 they lived under harsh conditions. With the occupation of Rome by the Germans in September 1943, the family fled to a mountain village (Avezzano), but shortly after they returned to Rome. They were hidden in convents and clerical seminaries, and in the homes of friends. In May 1944 the father was taken prisoner by a fascist group and liberated after a month, before the American troops entered Rome.
