Vivien Sommer rekonstruiert die typischen Erinnerungspraktiken im World Wide Web in ihrer Fülle und Vielfältigkeit anhand des Online-Diskurses über das Verfahren und den Prozess gegen den KZ-Aufseher John Demjanjuk. Darauf aufbauend wird empirisch erläutert, inwieweit sich mediatisierte Erinnerungen im Rahmen von Online-Kommunikation konstituieren, welche Veränderungen damit einhergehen und welche Konstanten sich im Vergleich mit anderen Gedächtnismedien konstatieren lassen. Theoretisch werden dazu Konzepte der Memory Studies, der Praxisforschung, der Diskurstheorie sowie der Mediatisierungsforschung verknüpft. Methodisch wird das Verfahren der Grounded Theory mit der wissenssoziologischen und der sozialsemiotischen Diskursanalyse trianguliert.

Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Mit der Entstehung des World Wide Web im Jahre 1993 wurde der Grundstein für die „New Economy“ gelegt. Die an die damit verbundenen neuen Kommunikations- und Absatzmöglichkeiten gerichteten Erwartungen führten zu einer regelrechten Euphorie, die nicht zuletzt in spektakulären Kursbewegungen am Neuen Markt ihren Ausdruck fanden. Das Internet ist verantwortlich für die Verschiebung der Kommunikations- und Informationsgewohnheiten von Milliarden Menschen, darunter Millionen Deutschen. Die Forrester Research Studie „Germany November 2001 Data Overview“ kam zu dem Ergebnis, dass 44 % der deutschen Bevölkerung das Internet regelmäßig nutzen. 29 Millionen Deutsche legen sogar Wert auf einen eigenen Internetzugang, um auch zu Hause das Internet nutzen zu können. Dieses Ergebnis ist aus der Sonderauswertung „World Wide Web Benutzer Analyse Oktober/November 2001-Werbung und Kommunikation im World Wide Web“des Online Marktforschers Fittkau&Maaß ersichtlich. Laut der aktuellen Studie „@facts“ des Marktforschungs-Instituts Forsa wird bis zum Ende des Jahres 2002 sogar jeder zweite Deutsche über das Internet erreichbar sein. Diese Entwicklung macht das Internet zu einem sehr interessanten Werbemedium. Zusätzlich zur „klassischen Werbung“, also Werbung in Printmedien, Radio und Fernsehen, in Lichtspielhäusern und im out-of-home Media-Bereich (Plakate, Litfasssäulen, etc.) hat sich eine ganz neue Möglichkeiten für die Werbetreibenden herausgebildet, mit den gewünschten Zielgruppen in Kontakt zu treten. Die Besonderheiten des Internet als Werbemedium, seine Vor- und Nachteile im Vergleich zur klassischen Werbung sowie die Charakteristika seiner wichtigsten Erscheinungsformen sind Gegenstand der vorliegenden Arbeit. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Banner-Werbung als das am häufigsten zur Realisierung überwiegend operativer Ziele genutzte Werbemittel. In den letzen Jahren verstärkten viele Unternehmungen ihre Bemühungen, das Internet zur Realisierung ihrer Ziele einzusetzen. Der technologischen Fortschritt und der Anschluss an die neue Kommunikationstechnologie sollten den eigenen Zwecken dienen. So nutzten die Unternehmungen das World Wide Web (im folgenden WWW) bereits im frühen Entwicklungsstadium für die Unternehmenskommunikation, den Vertrieb und die Werbung. Obwohl das Thema »Gedächtnis« Teil eines großen Diskurses innerhalb der Geistes- und Kulturwissenschaften ist, fehlt es bislang an einer Gedächtnistheorie, die einen echten epistemischen Nutzen für die Geschichtswissenschaft aufweist. Mit Hilfe der soziologischen Systemtheorie von Niklas Luhmann überträgt Juliane Reil konstruktive Ansätze aus den Theorien von Jan Assmann, Pierre Nora und Johannes Fried in ein integratives Modell von Gedächtnistheorie. Dabei wird das komplexe Zusammenspiel von Gedächtnisprozessen auf individueller und kollektiver Ebene anhand von prominenten Beispielen des praktischen Umgangs mit dem Holocaust (etwa den vielerorts gelegten »Stolpersteinen«) deutlich gemacht.

Reconciliation studies are concerned with the processes of rebuilding and improving damaged relationships after major wrongdoings. They focus on factors such as law, economics, and international relations, as well as on elements such as emotions and ethics, culture and religion, media and education. Reconciliation research therefore requires a transdisciplinary approach, to analyse both the procedures leading to the recognition of truth as well as those in which justice is administered; both the impact of public apologies and cooperation agreements; both the implementation of memory policies and civil society initiatives; both the outcomes of trauma therapy and intergenerational encounter groups. While on the surface the relationships in question are those between states, groups, organisations, and individuals, at a deeper level reconciliation always addresses and involves many axes of damaged relationships: those with others (intergroup); those with one's own group (intragroup); those with oneself; those with the environment; and those with transcendence. Reconciliation studies deal, therefore, with a much broader spectrum of relationships than that taken into consideration by neighbouring disciplines such as conflict resolution and peace studies. In this volume, Francesco Ferrari and Davide Tacchini brought together examples of Leiner's approach to reconciliation studies as a cooperative project of different disciplines. The articles are divided into two sections: 1. A series of case studies about Japan-South Korea relations, German-Czech reconciliation, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict using the methods of Martin Leiner, Sayyid Qutb view of American society, and South Africans revisiting TRC. 2. A series of theoretical clarifications on reconciliation and moderation from a Palestinian point of view, evolutionary game theory looking at reconciliation processes by a team of economists, grace and reconciliation from a Catholic theological point of view, philosophical reflections on the concept of reconciliation after Auschwitz, cognitive and affective aspects in reconciliation from a Catholic theological point of view, ecology and spatiality of reconciliation seen by a social geographer, and political dimensions of reconciliation.
