Inside this book is poetry that comes directly from my thoughts, feelings and experiences. I hope that bearing my soul, in black and white, will help others realize they're not alone. I found that when I wrote about my thoughts and feelings, I wasn't doing what was in my mind. I hope that my poetry will help others, their friends and family, to better understand what they feel but are to scared to say. I hope to help them find a way to work together and to keep fighting. I do want to warn those who read this book, it is extremely graphic and may "trigger" some. However, remember while you're reading, it's better to write or talk about your feelings than to keep them hidden. You can fight your demons, but you can't do it alone. I have found my way to cope, and it has helped me to survive. This book, in my words, shows my fight and my victory.

Sadly, and far too pervasive, submerged pain-narratives are so easily hidden and are historically, sometimes trapping humankind within gross diachronic amniotic darkness, where it is difficult to breath. Embodied within this murky quality of inundated, panic-ridden, personal pain; unresolved pain is conceiving a murderer, nurturing unhealthy, dysfunctional generativity. This gravid amniote of hidden pain is as a lurking executioner, ready and able to dehumanize and kill: Bio by Psycho by Socio and Spiritual means. This readiness is a disturbing, diachronic constant; a vicious variable common to all life and living. When I reflect upon the intra-interpersonal experiences of my patients, empathy seems uncommon. Yet, what my patients, and all humankind, share in common is an undeniable connection with pain. The narrative connected to one's pain is meant to be shared not locked up in the dark recesses of ones' humanity. Unlocking one's pain-story, the Sufferer, may encounter intra-interpersonal relationships (IPRs) characterized by suffering, sharing, perseverance, character, compassion, empathy, and hope but not limited to these, along the way of their pilgrimage with pain. Other IPRs may involve oneself with breaking generational curses, conceiving healthy generativity, and embodying the resources to help others with a particular substance of empathy to help build better relationships. Building better relationships is a vigorous heart-wrenching journey. This book is an invitation to begin such a heartfelt journey.

Escape With One's Life-Learning to live with survival is the story of a commercial air flight from San Jose, Costa Rica to Tegucigalpa, Honduras on October 21, 1989. After a short stopover in Managua, the Continental Airlines leased plane crashed into a mountainside near the Honduran capital. The author is one of fifteen survivors among the 146 people on board including thirteen North Americans. The book focuses on why the fifteen survivors were flying that day and how each of them miraculously escaped the inferno that ensued shortly after the Boeing 727-200 failed to reach its intended destination. Eyewitness accounts describe courageous and heroic actions of both survivors and local residents. Nine years after the crash, the author decided to document the experience when he watched another survivor being interviewed on Spanish language television about her survival and her support for burn victims in Nicaragua. Escape With One's Life describes the effect the tragedy had on the lives of the survivors and the family members of deceased passengers. The author's journey to understand the trauma and heal from it are the central thrust of the book with particular emphasis on the impact of trauma, the author's struggles to understand his inner conflicts and to eventually overcome them through the process of documenting his experience. Escape is a gripping account of survival and how numerous people overcame pain and suffering to move ahead with their lives.

Education For The Joy Of It written by Dr. Robert J. Pellegrini and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-07-01 with Education categories.

This book is targeted to all current or prospective high school students, college students, or anyone else who aspires to strengthen the educational foundation upon which to build the rest of her/his life -- with the hope that it is especially helpful to people who might otherwise become, or have already been formal educational program dropouts or lockouts. I cannot guarantee that applying what is offered here will ensure an “A” grade, or achievement of one’s life goals. But I do guarantee that I have tried to summarize critical elements of thought, feeling, and action oriented to such objectives. Part I of this book is all about how to work both hard and “smart” to experience the joy of academic success. Hard work is necessary to achieve anything worthy of pride in our own creative effort. But it’s not just how much or how hard we work at things. It is also “how smart” we work that determines our life outcomes. And what I mean by “working smart” is working efficiently and effectively. The goal here is to help all students reap as much as possible from their educational investment, whatever that investment may be in terms of time, money, energy, and self-disciplined personal sacrifices. Part II is about what it takes to achieve great success at anything in life. The format for this second part is, essentially, a psychological profile of outstanding achievers. From both my professional and personal experience, I’ve learned how vitally important education can be as an avenue to a pro-socially valued and personally satisfying life. And once again in 2014, I find myself championing an approach designed to facilitate human development through educational opportunity in a program I call “Life Construction 101” -- designed not just to augment efforts to help at-risk students, but to help every student enjoy academic success experiences. Education For The Joy Of It is the “user’s manual” for that Life Construction 101 program. Accordingly, the Appendix to this book presents a brief, structured exercise designed to provide a very preliminary template for initiating the construction or reconstruction of one’s life. And that’s it. A little book that I hope will be one of the biggest books its readers ever read. RJP http://youtu.be/6BW19m7hqqc

What is persistent pain? How do we communicate pain, not only in words but in visual images and gesture? How do we respond to the pain of another, and can we do it better? Can explaining how pain works help us handle it? This unique compilation of voices addresses these and bigger questions. Defined as having lasted over three months, persistent pain changes the brain and nervous system so pain no longer warns of danger: it seems to be a fault in the system. It is a major cause of disability globally, but it remains difficult to communicate, a problem both to those with pain and those who try to help. Language struggles to bridge the gap, and it raises ethical challenges in its management unlike those of other common conditions. Encountering Pain shares leading research into the potential value of visual images and non-verbal forms of communication as means of improving clinician–patient interaction. It is divided into four sections: hearing, seeing, speaking, and a final series of contributions on the future for persistent pain. The chapters are accompanied by vivid photographs co-created with those who live with pain. The volume integrates the voices of leading scientists, academics and contemporary artists with poetry and poignant personal testimonies to provide a manual for understanding the meanings of pain, for healthcare professionals, pain patients, students, academics and artists. The voices and experiences of those living with pain are central, providing tools for discussion and future research, shifting register between creative, academic and personal contributions from diverse cultures and weaving them together to offer new understanding, knowledge and hope.

Ever wonder why most women can handle the kids and careers and the renovation but men can concentrate on either the newspaper or a game on TV? This is because female brains have more interconnections that allow them to multi-task and split their attention. The New Feminine Brain is the first book by a medical doctor, who is also a psychiatrist and a brain expert, to show how modern life challenges are physically rewiring the brain and to address the particular challenges that women face as a result. The female brain today is not your grandmother's brain - it has even more connections and skills, but with that can come more physical problems, including an increase in attention and memory deficits and chronic mood and health conditions. The New Feminine Brain combines the insights of Dr Schulz's research and stories of clinical experience as a neuropsychiatrist treating people with tough brain disorders with unique self-help and expert health advice. Readers will discover and cultivate their special genius and intuitive style with provocative self-tests, so they can hear and heal their depression, anxiety, attention, memory, and other brain problems. 'Rewiring' exercises, herbs and nutritional supplements will improve their physical, psychological and emotional health.

If you or someone you love is struggling with borderline personality disorder (BPD), you need up-to-date, accurate, and accessible information on the problems you’re facing and where you can turn for help. But where do you look? Much of the professional literature on BPD is too technical and confusing to be of much help. And searching the Internet for accurate information can be treacherous, with some sites providing useful information and others giving dangerous advice and misinformation. If you’re living with BPD, this compassionate book offers what you really need: an easy-to-follow road map to guide you through this disorder and its treatment. This book provides answers to many of the questions you might have about BPD: What is BPD? How long does it last? What other problems co-occur with BPD? Overviews of what we currently know about BPD make up the first section of the book. Later chapters cover several common treatment approaches to BPD: DBT, mentalization-based treatment (MBT), and medication treatments. In the last sections of the book, you’ll learn a range of useful coping skills that can help you manage your emotions, deal with suicidal thoughts, and cope with some of the most distressing symptoms of BPD. This book has been awarded The Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies Self-Help Seal of Merit — an award bestowed on outstanding self-help books that are consistent with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) principles and that incorporate scientifically tested strategies for overcoming mental health difficulties. Used alone or in conjunction with therapy, our books offer powerful tools readers can use to jump-start changes in their lives.
