A Studio Nobel está lançando o livro Espirais de Madeira: uma história da arquitetura de Curitiba, do arquiteto Irã Taborda Dudeque. A obra nos permite compreender o papel da arquitetura no processo de afirmação cultural, política e econômica que Curitiba de 1920 a 1990. Para isso, a narrativa do autor parte de um conjunto de idéias literárias e artísticas (que formariam um quadro de referências simbólicas), e acompanha os desenvolvimentos destas idéias na política, na economia e na arquitetura. ¿Assim, a arquitetura de Curitiba não foi analisada para explicar os sucessivos estágios da arquitetura de Curitiba, num ciclo auto-referente. Serviu, em vez disso, como um corpo documental para tentar aclarar e compreender as pessoas que fizeram e fazem a cidade de Curitiba e, por conseguinte, o Estado do Paraná e o Brasil. A pretensão é que, entendendo-se esse processo histórico, fique mais claro o valor cultural da arquitetura produzida, ao mesmo tempo que se possa entender algumas das razões que levaram ao reconhecimento dos arquitetos por parte de uma sociedade¿, descreve Irã Dudeque.

Este volume proporciona a primeira tradução existente em português da História das plantas de Teofrasto. A exigência da matéria não dispensou a colaboração de uma helenista e de um botânico, de modo a garantir o rigor da tradução e a especificidade da anotação e índices. Além de um número elevado de notas de rodapé, a tradução vem acompanhada de um amplo estudo introdutório, destinado a caracterizar Teofrasto, o seu universo intelectual e a estrutura científica do tratado. Completam o volume uma bibliografia e sete índices: dois dos termos gregos e respectiva tradução, com remissão para os capítulos do tratado; quatro dos nomes latinos das espécies vegetais e animais, com remissão para a numeração das notas de rodapé; um último de topónimos. This volume offers the first translation into Portuguese of the History of plants, by Theophrastus. The nature of the subject needed the collaboration of a Hellenist and a Botanist, in order to ensure the accuracy of the translation and the specificity of the footnotes and indexes. Beside the large number of footnotes, there is an introduction that identifies Theophrastus, his intellectual circle and the scientific structure of his exposition. The volume also includes a bibliography and seven indexes: two of Greek nomenclature and its translation into Portuguese, referring to the chapters of Theophrastus’ text; four of Latin names given to the vegetal and animal species, referring to the footnotes; and a last one of toponyms.
