Education In A Changing World written by Irie Glajar and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-25 with Education categories.

EDUCATION IN A CHANGING WORLD, by Irie Glajar, challenges the individual and the human race to forever continue learning as the World changes, recognizing that improving education is one of the most important common interests necessary to our very survival. Irie well understands his subject matter, experiencing life as a student, graduate, refugee, teacher, author, and professor. Examples of improving education in our ever-changing World include techniques making irresistible and fun choices likely to result in exclamations like "Wow, learning important facts is helpful and makes life easier," followed by "These concepts may be useful with respect to many other jobs and endeavors," "I wonder what all else I don't yet know," and "Life will be better and better, forever, the more we all continue to learn and help the human race help itself " Irie approaches education, in part, from his own unique life experiences, such as his daring escape in 1981, at age 26, from (then) totalitarian Romania. Irie had no passport and very little money as he escaped crossing the old Yugoslavia, making his way to the United Nations' refugee camp in Latina, Italy, and to the U.S.A. in 1982. We believe that you will enjoy and find useful Irie's thoughtful and perceptive insights and recommendations in EDUCATION IN A CHANGING WORLD.

Affect Theory And Comparative Education Discourse written by Irving Epstein and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-07-11 with Education categories.

What does educational policy-making and institutional practice entail in an era of globalization? Global interactions challenge conventional assumptions governing the certainty of geographical boundedness; simplistic notions of citizenship and identity; fixed notions of time, space and movement, and clear distinctions between economic modes of production and consumption. Irving Epstein argues that conventional educational institutions and the policies that support them tend to ignore such anxiety by affirming a belief in educational modernism to the exclusion of other possibilities. What is missing in most of these analyses is an appreciation for the role of affect in determining how our encounters with these practices become significant and how our efforts to find meaning in those policies and practices lead to their acceptance or rejection. This book is the first application of affect theory to comparative education themes and shows how it can help to form a more robust discussion of the policy-making process and the popular reactions to it. After discussing the key concepts associated with affect theory, he presents a total of six case studies. Three of the cases depict relationships between educational, cultural, and social organizations whose purposes conflict with one another but whose presence is indicative of a loss of faith in the efficacy of public schooling. Three of the cases are illustrative of an even greater systematic rejection of educational institutional aim and purpose.

The Promise Of Higher Education written by Hilligje van't Land and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-01 with Education categories.

This book is a collection of short essays, accessible through open access, which takes the interested reader on a tour across the global higher education landscape. It addresses pertinent themes and challenges in higher education. To mark the 70th anniversary of the International Association of Universities (IAU) and its role in higher education since 1950, experts from around the world share their insights into higher education’s recent past, present and future. The book is divided into six parts: Part I – “70 years of Higher Education Cooperation and Advocacy” looks back at key events in IAU’s history, its mission and significant activities over time, and remarks on the current global context informing its quest to promote academic partnerships and solidarity on a global scale. Part II – “Facilitating International Cooperation” provides for different perspectives on the transformation of the internationalisation of higher education and the contribution of higher education to international cooperation. Part III – “Coding the Values” debates the values upon which higher education was, is and will have to be built to provide for a democratic and inclusive society. Part IV – “The Changing Landscape” analyses various aspects of the transformation of higher education in an evolving context across the globe. Part V – “The Promise of Education” reflects on the role of higher education, its ideals and shortfalls and what it must do to stay true to its promise to help shape our societies. Part VI – “Opening up – The Future of Higher Education” focuses on future scenarios of higher education and call on the reader to envision a different kind of higher education and reimagine the contribution of higher education to society, as well as future roles for the IAU. The book will be of interest to higher education policy makers and academics. It is also of interest to the general public, as it provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges higher education institutions currently face and suggests scenarios of what the future of education might look like.
