Essentials Of Developmental Plant Anatomy written by Taylor A. Steeves and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017 with Science categories.
The main aim of this book is to provide a developmental perspective to plant anatomy. Authors Steeves and Sawhney provide fundamental information on plant structure and development to students at the introductory level, and as a resource material to researchers working in nearly all areas of plant biology i.e., plant physiology, systematics, ecology, developmental genetics and molecular biology. The book is focused on angiosperm species with some examples from different groups of plants. "Essentials of Developmental Plant Anatomy" starts with an introductory chapter and a brief introduction to plant cell structure, which is followed by the structure of the flower, plant reproduction (vegetative and sexual) and the development and structure of embryo - the precursor to the plant body. Each chapter then deals with essential information on the shoot system, diversity of plant cells and tissues, the structure and development of the stem, leaf, root, and the secondary body.

This revision of the now classic Plant Anatomy offers a completely updated review of the structure, function, and development of meristems, cells, and tissues of the plant body. The text follows a logical structure-based organization. Beginning with a general overview, chapters then cover the protoplast, cell wall, and meristems, through to phloem, periderm, and secretory structures. "There are few more iconic texts in botany than Esau’s Plant Anatomy... this 3rd edition is a very worthy successor to previous editions..." ANNALS OF BOTANY, June 2007

A plant anatomy textbook unlike any other on the market today. Carol A. Peterson described the first edition as 'the best book on the subject of plant anatomy since the texts of Esau'. Traditional plant anatomy texts include primarily descriptive aspects of structure, this book not only provides a comprehensive coverage of plant structure, but also introduces aspects of the mechanisms of development, especially the genetic and hormonal controls, and the roles of plasmodesmata and the cytoskeleton. The evolution of plant structure and the relationship between structure and function are also discussed throughout. Includes extensive bibliographies at the end of each chapter. It provides students with an introduction to many of the exciting, contemporary areas at the forefront of research in the development of plant structure and prepares them for future roles in teaching and research in plant anatomy.

"Essentials of Plant Anatomy" is a comprehensive guide to understanding the intricate structure and organization of plant tissues and organs. This book delves into the fundamental principles of plant anatomy, exploring diverse cell types, tissue systems, and anatomical adaptations that enable plants to grow, develop, and thrive in various environments. We embark on a journey through the microscopic world of plant cells, learning about the specialized functions and interactions of different cell types within tissues such as epidermis, parenchyma, collenchyma, and sclerenchyma. The book illuminates the role of these tissues in supporting plant growth, providing structural support, storing nutrients, and facilitating essential metabolic processes like photosynthesis and gas exchange. Furthermore, we delve into the complex organization of plant organs such as roots, stems, leaves, and flowers, unraveling anatomical adaptations that enable plants to absorb water and nutrients from the soil, transport fluids and nutrients throughout the plant, and engage in reproductive processes like pollination and seed dispersal. Through detailed illustrations, diagrams, and explanatory text, "Essentials of Plant Anatomy" provides readers with a deeper understanding of the developmental processes that shape plant morphology and anatomy, from meristematic tissue activity to the formation of specialized structures such as stomata, trichomes, and vascular bundles. This book serves as an invaluable resource for students, educators, researchers, and plant enthusiasts seeking to deepen their knowledge of plant structure and function. Whether used as a textbook for academic courses or as a reference guide for botanical research, it offers a rich and insightful exploration of the fascinating world of plant anatomy.

Kaplan's Principles of Plant Morphology defines the field of plant morphology, providing resources, examples, and theoretical constructs that illuminate the foundations of plant morphology and clearly outline the importance of integrating a fundamental understanding of plant morphology into modern research in plant genetics, development, and physiology. As research on developmental genetics and plant evolution emerges, an understanding of plant morphology is essential to interpret developmental and morphological data. The principles of plant morphology are being brought into studies of crop development, biodiversity, and evolution during climate change, and increasingly such researchers are turning to old texts to uncover information about historic research on plant morphology. Hence, there is great need for a modern reference and textbook that highlights past studies and provides the synthesis of data necessary to drive our future research in plant morphological and developmental evolution. Key Features Numerous illustrations demonstrating the principles of plant morphology Historical context for interpretations of more recent genetic data Firmly rooted in the principles of studying plant form and function Provides evolutionary framework without relying on evolutionary interpretations for plant form Only synthetic treatment of plant morphology on the market Related Titles Les, D. In recent years, molecular biology has infiltrated into all branches of botany. This is particularly true of plant physiology. This book attempts to provide an introduction to the metabolic and developmental physiology of higher plants from a molecular biological point of view. Starting from the heterocatalytic function of DNA the first ten chapters deal with metabolism; development is presented in the last nine, starting from the autocatalytic functions of DNA and including certain topics oriented more toward metabolic physiology. Both fields of plant physiology are so closely linked that an in tegrated presen tation of this kind seemed not only possible but desirable. In contrast to other accounts, an attempt has been made to give equal weight to metabolism and development. In particular, the so-called "sec ondary" plant materials, which are of considerable interest to the phar macist, the nutrition technologist, the plant breeder, and the agriculturalist, as well as to the biologist, are treated sufficiently. It is ob vious that the wealth of material made an illustrative style of presentation necessary. The book is intended for beginners, and so it has had, in part, to be simplified. Even so it has not been possible to write it without mentioning hypotheses that anticipate much more research. The beginner ought also to learn how working hypotheses are first postulated on the basis of cer tain facts and then must either be proved or refuted.
