Imigrante e mulher. São estes os dois conceitos que inspiraram a realização deste trabalho que materializa a dissertação de mestrado em Comunicação e Jornalismo da Faculdade Letras da Universidade de Coimbra, defendida em Dezembro de 2004. Foi a procura do cruzamento entre os dois termos na imprensa que deu origem à pergunta primeira que norteou a investigação: será que o teor e forma das notícias, os temas tratados e o discurso adoptado pelos media portugueses reflectem a realidade da imigração feminina em Portugal? Na expectativa de enquadrar uma resposta a esta questão, outras surgiram como complementares: Quais as diferenças de abordagem verificadas entre as notícias sobre mulheres imigrantes e sobre homens imigrantes? A existirem, estarão essas diferenças relacionadas com as especificidades dos media que as veiculam? Qual o papel desempenhado media na definição e difusão destas imagens? Será que estas questões são levadas ao espaço público e, se sim, com que nível de profundidade? Existirá uma imprensa especializada na questão da imigração, como existem especializações noutras áreas que conquistaram um lugar permanente nas páginas dos jornais?

O livro Mulheres e Justiça: teorias da justiça da Antiguidade ao século XX sob a perspectiva crítica de gênero investiga a relação existente entre o discurso filosófico sobre justiça e a construção da igualdade de gênero, considerando que as teorias da justiça, ao longo da história, têm servido para legitimar e perpetuar desigualdades de gênero, ao mesmo tempo que se constituem em um campo adequado para o florescimento de um discurso capaz de criticar, desestabilizar e alterar tais desigualdades, a partir do potencial emancipatório de sua força crítica. Com esse objetivo, revisita os principais teóricos da justiça da Antiguidade até o século XX, investigando de que modo os discursos jusfilosóficos sobre as mulheres transformaram-se em discursos de mulheres acerca do que seria uma sociedade justa, sob a perspectiva crítica de gênero. A partir dessa análise, examina a constituição das diversas correntes teóricas feministas que se propuseram a enfrentar tal questionamento, suas convergências e seus enfrentamentos teóricos/práticos, demonstrando assim a ascensão do pensamento feminista como um referencial crítico e emancipatório, e ao mesmo tempo evidenciando as fragilidades e os paradoxos dos feminismos do final do século XX. A autora realiza, assim, um mergulho na história da filosofia do direito e da justiça, traçando um panorama cuja leitura mostra-se indispensável para aquelas e aqueles que desejam refletir acerca da constituição da desigualdade de gênero e, a partir de então, auxiliar na compreensão e constituição de um referencial jurídico, filosófico e político capaz de superar o déficit de empoderamento feminino e o cenário persistente de dominação e exclusão de mulheres e demais sujeitos genderificados do espectro da justiça, recuperando o potencial crítico e emancipatório da filosofia feminista para o século XXI.
