El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar el instrumento de evaluación de riesgos PRISMA (Perfil de Riesgo de Reincidencia para Solicitud de Medida de Aseguramiento), implementado por la Fiscalía General de la Nación en el año 2019. Con este propósito, en primer lugar, se estudia la regulación de las medidas cautelares del procedimiento penal en Colombia y se revisan los problemas prácticos de la utilización generalizada de la detención; posteriormente, se hace mención del modelo de servicios de antelación al juicio desarrollado en países de tendencia anglosajona, como principal antecedente; y, por último, se referencian el funcionamiento y los objetivos del instrumento, se valora críticamente su diseño y se proponen algunas modificaciones.
