Bedenkt man wie stark sich Helmut Gollwitzer (1908-1993) in der westdeutschen Kirche und Öffentlichkeit als öffentlicher Theologe engagiert hat, und wieviel Streit es um seine Person und Aussagen gegeben hat, verwundert es umso mehr, dass er fast völlig vergessen zu sein scheint. In der vorliegenden Arbeit vollzieht Teckin Jung eine umfassende Rekonstruktion der Entwicklung der politischen Ethik von Gollwitzer, was durch eine sozialhistorische Lektüre seiner politisch-ethischen Schriften aus dem Zeitraum von den frühen 1950er bis zu den späten 1970er Jahren erfolgt. Damit möchte Jung einen diese Forschungslücke schließenden Beitrag leisten, um nicht nur an das Denken des heute in der Theologie und Öffentlichkeit quasi Verschollenen zu erinnern, da zugleich auch versucht werden soll, dessen mögliche Aktualität zu erweisen.
