Das Kommunikationsinstrument "Event" ermöglicht innovative Wege im Dialog mit den Stakeholdern. Da immer mehr Unternehmen und Non Profit-Organisationen die Begriffe CSR oder Nachhaltigkeit in ihrem Leitbild verankern, wird in der gegenständlichen Arbeit überprüft, in wie weit das Prinzip der Nachhaltigkeit, im Sinne von ökologischer, ökonomischer und sozialer Verantwortung, in der Eventkommunikation umgesetzt wird. Aufbauend auf der Literaturrecherche werden Begrifflichkeiten definiert, die in der Folge für die Auswertung der Experteninterviews herangezogen werden. Für die vorliegende wissenschaftliche Untersuchung werden Unternehmen/Organisationen ausgewählt, die auf Grund ihres Tätigkeitsfeldes von der Gesellschaft sehr eng mit ökologischer, ökonomischer und sozialer Verantwortung in Verbindung gebracht werden. Das Ergebnis der qualitativen Forschung zeigt, dass sowohl Eventkommunikation als auch Nachhaltigkeit, im Sinne des triadischen Sustainability-Ansatzes, bei allen befragten Personen der Unternehmen/Organisationen von hoher Bedeutung ist. Die aktive Umsetzung der Nachhaltigkeitsgrundsätze im Eventmanagement findet nur in den Bereichen Soziales und Ökonomie statt. Der ökologische Aspekt wird kaum berücksichtig. Bei der Beantwortung der Fragen zur Nachhaltigkeit in Verbindung mit Kommunikation werden die beiden Definitionen von "nachhaltig" vermischt. Die Ziele von nachhaltiger Kommunikation werden von den Befragten in Verbindung mit der ökologischen, ökonomischen und sozialen Verantwortung des Unternehmens/Organisation gebracht.
