Satan has been described as THE god OF THIS WORLD (II Cor. 4 vs 4). He is the originator of all evil. Right from Eden, his number one target is man. He has nothing good to offer. His three-pronged programme for man is to STEAL, KILL and DESTROY. Unfortunately, the whole world is under his influence. The Bible tells us in 1 John 5:19 that the "WORLD LIETH IN WICKEDNESS". This means that the world is under the power of the evil one. Satan gets his job done through evil spirits, otherwise known as DEMONS.Although Satan is not omnipresent, he has so masterfully organized his kingdom of darkness that evil has become as pervasive as the air.Satan tries to replicate the kingdom that God had set out to establish in the beginning. The devil is a copycat. He is not omniscient, neither is he omnipotent. He is a created being and not the CREATOR. He runs a parallel kingdom to that of God. From the twentieth verse of the tenth chapter of the book of Daniel, we learn that every political system has a controlling spirit. The devil is the prince of this world. God's original plan for man was that man would co-operate with Him to dominate the earth.Unfortunately, the devil deceived man. Right from then, man's will became united (married) to the will of the Edenic serpent, in opposition to God's will. Also, it is the perfect will of God that HIS WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN but the devil fights tooth and nail to stop this, hence, the "conflict of the ages" known as "spiritual warfare".Spiritual warfare may be defined as a state of perpetual armed battle between the kingdom of God and the rebellious kingdom of Satan. It is the pitching of uncompromising spiritual forces against each other in order to enforce control over creation. In this warfare, there is no neutrality. You are either for the kingdom of God or you are for the kingdom of Satan, the evil one. Every aspect of your thought, word or action either furthers the kingdom of God or it furthers the kingdom of darkness.

The headquarters of all evil altars is hell. Satan is originator of evil. That is why his name is devil, the evil one. He was not created evil. He became evil through the exercise of his free will in wrong choices. He was Lucifer, the anointed cherub (Ezek. 28:12-17). Pride dethroned him. One thing about evil is its self-destroying nature. Evil will ultimately consume those that condone it. Another thing about it is the universality. Evil has no colour barrier. Evil has been judged on the cross at Calvary. It has a limited lifespan. Central to the subject of altars is worship. Satan was the choirmaster in heaven before he fell (Ezek. 28:13).After his fall, he began to corrupt worship through idolatry the worship of the creature instead of the Creator. Today, idolatry is so pervasive that many actually worship Jehovah on the altar of Baal. Idolatry is using God and worshipping things. Anything you have enthroned side-by-side God in your heart is an idol. God in His absolute holiness hates and punishes sin, especially the sin of idolatry. The easiest way to go into satanic bondage is idolatry. Satan and his fallen angels, demons, operate freely through evil altars. Evil altars are highways to hell. There is always demonic traffic in evil altars. Little wonder God commanded the children of Israel to utterly destroy the evil altars in the land he gave them to possess: "These are the statutes and judgments which ye Shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth. Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars and break their pillars and burn their grooves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place' Deut. 12:1-3 Notice the choice of words in the scriptures above: "utterly destroy," "overthrow," "break and burn with fire," "hew down." The divine prescription for dealing with evil altars is total annihilation. Even the names of the gods are to be completely obliterated. The evil you fail to confront will contaminate and eventually consume you. If only the children of Israel had obeyed the divine instructions above, they would never have gone into captivity in Babylon. Also observe the phrase "all the days that ye live upon the earth." The scriptures above have past, present and future applications. The Word of God is eternal. This should satisfy those who may think that since we are now in the New Testament, the scriptures have become irrelevant. Writing to the New Testament Church, Apostle John states: "Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen" I John 5:21 One reason God expects his children to employ spiritual violence in dealing with evil altars is because they constitute demonic strongholds. A stronghold is a highly fortified place and will yield only when maximum force is applied. Behind many long-standing difficulties are stronghold demons. Unfortunately, today, despite the proliferation of religious activities, the structures of idolatry are still intact. Consequently, many precious souls are captured in Satan's prisons (evil altars).
