An Evolving Knowledge Base (EKB) is capable of self evolution by means of its internally specified behaviour. In this thesis the author incrementally specifies, semantically characterizes and illustrates with examples, the concepts and tools necessary to the development of EKBs.

The two-volume set LNCS 3561 and LNCS 3562 constitute the refereed proceedings of the First International Work-Conference on the Interplay between Natural and Artificial Computation, IWINAC 2005, held in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain in June 2005. The 118 revised papers presented are thematically divided into two volumes; the first includes all the contributions mainly related with the methodological, conceptual, formal, and experimental developments in the fields of Neurophysiology and cognitive science. The second volume collects the papers related with bioinspired programming strategies and all the contributions related with the computational solutions to engineering problems in different application domains.

The Knowledge Evolution written by Verna Allee and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-06-25 with Business & Economics categories.

The Knowledge Evolution offers a unique and powerful road map for understanding knowledge creation, learning, and performance in everyday work. This book reframes current thinking by delving into the hidden world of knowledge supporting both individual and organizational performance, laying the foundation for the emerging art of knowledge management. Packed with best practices from leading edge companies, essential guidelines, design principles, analogies, and conceptual frameworks, it serves as a practical guidebook for mastering the Knowledge Era. It will help managers make more intelligent decisions about knowledge creation, reduce wasteful technology investments and lead to new ease and confidence in applying knowledge and learning principles for themselves and for their organizations. Verna Allee delves into current thinking and practice to unravel the genetic code of knowledge itself. This revolutionary approach has surfaced a simple and elegant knowledge archetype. She demonstrates how this archetype can help us deal with complexity and suggests ways of self-organizing that make profound sense in today's networked enterprises. From strategies for core knowledge competencies to the key components of individual expertise, The Knowledge Evolution zeroes in on the critical success factors for the knowledge-based enterprise. What emerges is an approach to knowledge management that is simple enough to communicate at every level of the organization, yet rich enough to encompass all the complexity of modern enterprises. Verna Allee is the founder of Integral Performance Group, a consulting practice in California that specializes in the learning organization, knowledge competencies, organizational systems change, systems thinking, total quality and learning, benchmarking support, best practices research, and strategic development. She holds a degree in the Study of Human Consciousness and her work is informed by a deep interest in intelligence, human development, cognition, intuition and consciousness. She is the author of Learning Links: Enhancing Individual and Team Performance, Pfeiffer and Co-Jossey Bass, 1996.

Computational Intelligence Iii written by G. Valle and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991-07-01 with Computers categories.

In recent years AI has been experiencing a deep internal debate on the appropriateness of the symbolic-based paradigm and all of its consequences. While various symbolic representation schemes, as well as their integration, have been proposed, their limitations have continuously pushed researchers for improved versions or entirely new ones. New viewpoints such as the complex dynamic-based approach with neural nets can be regarded simply as new problem solving techniques with specific properties.Under this perspective, what seems to be important is the ability to combine heterogeneous representation and problem-solving techniques. Research on heterogeneous, intelligent systems goes hand in hand with research on specific problem solving methods and paradigms, therefore representing their conceptual and practical glueing element. The papers contained in this proceedings are just one instance of such awareness activity in the international scientific community.

This volume presents the proceedings of the 6th Portuguese Conference on Artificial Intelligence, EPIA '93, organized by the Portuguese Artificial Intelligence Association. Like the last two conferences in this series, it was run as an international event with strict requirements as to the quality of accepted submissions. Fifty-one submissions were receivedfrom 9 countries, the largest numbers coming from Portugal (18), Germany (10), and France (8). The volume contains 25 selected papers, together with 7 poster abstracts and one invited lecture: "Organizations as complex, dynamic design problems" by L. Gasser, I. Hulthage, B. Leverich, J. Lieb, and A. Majchrzak, all from the University of Southern California. The papersare grouped into parts on: distributed artificial intelligence, natural language processing, knowledge representation, logic programming, non-standard logics, automated reasoning, constraints, planning, and learning.

A recent conference brought together researchers who contribute to the design of cooperative systems and their integration into organizational settings. The aim of the conference was to advance the understanding and modeling of collaborative work situations which are mediated by technological artefacts, and to highlight the development of design methodologies for cooperative work analysis and cooperative systems design. Papers from the conference reflect the multidisciplinary nature of this area, representing fields such as computer and information sciences, knowledge engineering, distributed artificial intelligence, organizational and management sciences, and ergonomics. Intelligent Exploration Of The Web written by Piotr S. Szczepaniak and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-11-26 with Computers categories.

The Web is the nervous system of information society. As such, it has a pervasive influence on our daily lives. And yet, in some ways the Web does not have a high MIQ (Machine IQ). What can be done to enhance it? This is the leitmotif of "Intelligent Exploration of the Web," (lEW)--a collection of articles co-edited by Drs. Szczepaniak, Segovia, Kacprzyk and, to a small degree, myself. The articles that comprise lEW address many basic problems ranging from structure analysis of Internet documents and Web dialogue management to intelligent Web agents for extraction of information, and bootstrapping an ontology-based information extraction system. Among the basic problems, one that stands out in importance is the problem of search. Existing search engines have many remarkable capabilities. But what is not among them is the deduction capability--the capability to answer a query by drawing on information which resides in various parts of the knowledge base. An example of a query might be "How many Ph.D. degrees in computer science were granted by European universities in 1996?" No existing search engine is capable of dealing with queries of comparable or even much lower complexity. Basically, what we would like to do is to add deduction capability to a search engine, with the aim of transforming it into a question-answering system, or a QI A system, for short. This is a problem that is of major importance and a challenge that is hard to meet.
