A legendary bloodline. A generational feud. A woman caught in a dangerous game of sinister and deadly machinations. MI6 Officer Grayson Holmes carries the weight of a renowned legacy. His lineage has blessed and cursed him with a mind designed to see the gossamer threads others cannot. His name has brought admiration, disbelief, scorn … and now, a deadly threat. Kipling Branson’s life consists of family, friends, work, and her doctorate studies. Nothing unusual. She never could have imagined a hearing aid malfunction would save her life and set off a course of events that would change everything. Grayson is in Boston to maintain communication channels in the international intelligence community, but before returning to London, he barely escapes death in an explosion. His life is spared, but others were not. A chain of events leads him on a hunt to determine who wants him dead, with perhaps the most intriguing question: how is the beautiful Kipling Branson involved? This first book in the Baker Street Legacy series takes Grayson and Kipling into a slow-yet-undeniable romance that will change them both forever as each must step into a life they don’t know and never imagined but will fight to keep.

Description Overcoming the label of learning disability may be an achievement but also triumphing over the obstacles caused by prejudice at being labeled with schizophrenia is highly unusual. Philip Hill uses his auto-biographical account to describe the ways in which he overcame the rejection of his peer group at schoolneighbourhood and how he used his experiences of mental illness to help others like himself before going on to train as a social worker. This amazing account of triumph over adversity should be an inspiration to other people who find themselves labeled with severe mental illness. The honest and thought provoking way Philip describes his symptoms should enable the layperson to gain an 'insiders' insight on what it like to suffer from the active symptoms of Schizophrenia. This book will hopefully challenge the stereotypes surrounding Schizophrenia. About the AuthorPhilip Hill has spent most of his life living in various parts of Birmingham. Philip is a twin and his twin brother Paul is a neighbour. Furthermore Philip has an elder sister and an elder brother he has not seen recently. Being brought up with his twin brother and adopted sister Lynn by foster parents gave him much needed stability after living in a children's home.Experiencing neglect in a children's home at the early stages of development led to him being sent to a special school at the age of five. He learned to read by the age of ten and eventually went on to Leicester University to study Economics. At Leicester University Philip struggled with mixing with his peer group and despite reasonable academic progress had a nervous breakdown after passing his finals. His diagnosis of Schizophrenia would be a label he will now have to endure for the rest of his life. After having a relapse Philip eventually found long term work. Then at the age of 32 Philip went to Birmingham University where he gained a masters degree in Economic Development and Policy. He then went on to study for a doctorate but ended up with the consolation prize of a Masters of Philosophy research degree. Finally drawing on his skills as a support worker working with those diagnosed with mental health issues, he applied to go on a social work course. Philip is now a professional social worker working with adults with learning disabilities. He is also happily married to Geraldine.

“POWERFUL! BRILLIANT! SEXY! Written by pros who know how to tell a story.” —Publisher's Weekly Zeb Marlowe, the physically scarred and psychologically maimed survivor of a top secret CIA mind-control experiment, has begun to remake his life when Jai Jai Leland, the beautiful widow of a man who didn't survive, asks him to help her solve the mystery behind her husband's shocking death. The behaviour textbook that's been missing! - Dr Mandy Roshier, University of Nottingham, School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, UK This practical guide for busy veterinarians demystifies the apparently complex nature of canine behaviour while simultaneously emphasising its importance. Authored by acclaimed veterinary behaviour consultant Kendal Shepherd, the book provides practical knowledge of dog behaviour and an understanding of how to talk about it with clients. Shepherd shows how this can enhance the relationship between owner and pet and between dog and environment, including the vet surgery, as well as improve the vet’s own sense of fulfilment and enjoyment of practice. From a discussion on the true nature of obedience to stressing the importance of behavioural indicators when assessing pain and mental welfare and finally by reminding vets of their obligations under Dangerous Dogs legislation, the emphasis is on the prevention of aggression throughout. Packed with anecdotes drawn from real-life cases, easy to read and understand, the principles explained can be effortlessly assimilated into the average consultation without the need for lengthy report-writing.

THE LACK of transfiguration in low-impact African academia with regards to cultivated and insensate academics is largely accountable for Africa’s incapacity to reinvent, transform, and redeem the material condition of the African people. Although this project is essentially a tale of woe regarding the largely unresponsive African academia, it is also methodical in its orientation in a measure to divulge the sub rosa and hegemonic regimes which preclude objective rationality in African intellectualism. Transfiguration is a prerequisite to transformation. The conceptual idea is that responsiveness and transformation are essentially about the pursuit of relative gains. In Africa, transformation can only be achieved when African people start observing Africa through African lenses. This project is intended for researchers and students of Africa as they would be introduced to introspective intuition as a fundamental framework for societal remediation.

The Happiest Baby On The Block written by Harvey Karp, M.D. and has been published by Bantam this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-11-19 with Family & Relationships categories.

Perfect for expecting parents who want to provide a soothing home for the newest member of their family, The Happiest Baby on the Block, the national bestseller by respected pediatrician and child development expert Dr. Harvey Karp, is a revolutionary method for calming a crying infant and promoting healthy sleep from day one. In perhaps the most important parenting book of the decade, Dr. Harvey Karp reveals an extraordinary treasure sought by parents for centuries --an automatic “off-switch” for their baby’s crying. No wonder pediatricians across the country are praising him and thousands of Los Angeles parents, from working moms to superstars like Madonna and Pierce Brosnan, have turned to him to learn the secrets for making babies happy. Never again will parents have to stand by helpless and frazzled while their poor baby cries and cries. Dr. Karp has found there IS a remedy for colic. “I share with parents techniques known only to the most gifted baby soothers throughout history …and I explain exactly how they work.” In a innovative and thought-provoking reevaluation of early infancy, Dr. Karp blends modern science and ancient wisdom to prove that newborns are not fully ready for the world when they are born. Through his research and experience, he has developed four basic principles that are crucial for understanding babies as well as improving their sleep and soothing their senses: ·The Missing Fourth Trimester: as odd as it may sound, one of the main reasons babies cry is because they are born three months too soon. ·The Calming Reflex: the automatic reset switch to stop crying of any baby in the first few months of life. ·The 5 “S’s”: the simple steps (swaddling, side/stomach position, shushing, swinging and sucking) that trigger the calming reflex. For centuries, parents have tried these methods only to fail because, as with a knee reflex, the calming reflex only works when it is triggered in precisely the right way. Unlike other books that merely list these techniques Dr. Karp teaches parents exactly how to do them, to guide cranky infants to calm and easy babies to serenity in minutes…and help them sleep longer too. ·The Cuddle Cure: the perfect mix the 5 “S’s” that can soothe even the most colicky of infants. In the book, Dr. Karp also explains: What is colic? Why do most babies get much more upset in the evening? How can a parent calm a baby--in mere minutes? Can babies be spoiled? When should a parent of a crying baby call the doctor? How can a parent get their baby to sleep a few hours longer? Even the most loving moms and dads sometimes feel pushed to the breaking point by their infant’s persistent cries. Coming to the rescue, however, Dr. Karp places in the hands of parents, grandparents, and all childcare givers the tools they need to be able to calm their babies almost as easily as…turning off a light. From the Hardcover edition.
