It has recently been shown that hadrons containing a single heavy quark exhibit a new flavor-spin symmetry of QCD. We exploit this symmetry to obtain model independent predictions for the form factors for the semileptonic decay of the Lambda(sub)b to the low-lying negative parity charm baryons. We discuss the connection between these results and the slope of the universal function Zeta that determines the Lambda(sub)b->Lambda(sub)c weak form factors.

It has recently been shown that hadrons containing a single heavy quark exhibit a new flavor-spin symmetry of QCD. We exploit this symmetry to obtain model independent predictions for the fourteen form factors in weak decays from the ground state pseudoscalar meson P(sub)Q(sub)i of a heavy quark Q(sub)i to the low-lying positive parity excited states of a heavy quark Q(sub)j in terms of two universal functions of momentum transfer. These predictions are of interest in the study of B -> D*(sub)2(2460), D(sub)1(~2460), D(sub)1(2420), and D*(sub)0(~2420) semileptonic decays. We also discuss the connection between these results and the slope of the function Xi (which determines the B->D and B->D* transition form factors) given by a heavy quark sum rule suggested by Bjorken.

We present the first evidence for B semileptonic decays into the charmed baryon [Lambda]{sub c} based on 420 fb−1 of data collected at the [Upsilon](4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II ee− storage rings. Events are tagged by fully reconstructing one of the B mesons in a hadronic decay mode. We measure the relative branching fraction [Beta]({bar B} 2![Lambda]{sub c}+ Xl−{bar {nu}}{sub {ell}})/[Beta]({bar B} 2![Lambda]{sub c}+/{bar {Lambda}}{sub c}−X) = (3.2 ± 0.9{sub stat.} ± 0.9{sub syst.})%. The significance of the signal including the systematic uncertainty is 4.9 standard deviations.

The authors present an investigation of the decays {bar B}° →?{sub c}{bar p} and B− →?{sub c}+{bar p}?− based on 383 x 106?(4S) → B{bar B} decays recorded with the BABAR detector. They measure the branching fractions of these decays; their ratio is?(B− →?{sub c}+{bar p}?−)/?({bar B}° →?{sub c}+{bar p}) = 15.4 ± 1.8 ± 0.3. The B− →?{sub c}+{bar p}?− process exhibits an enhancement at the?{sub c}+{bar p} threshold and is a laboratory for searches for excited charm baryon states. They observe the resonant decays B− →?{sub c}(2455)°{bar p} and B−?{sub c}(2800)°{bar p} but see no evidence for B− →?{sub c}(2520)°{bar p}. This is the first observation of the decay B− →?{sub c}(2800)°{bar p}; however, the mass of the observed excited?{sub c}° state is (2846 ± 8 ± 10) MeV/c2, which is somewhat inconsistent with previous measurements. Finally, they examine the angular distribution of the B− →?{sub c}(2455)°{bar p} decays and measure the spin of the?{sub c}(2455)° baryon to be 1/2, as predicted by the quark model.

The authors report the first observation of an excited singly-charmed baryon {Omega}*{sub c} (css) in the radiative decay {Omega}{sub c}{sup 0}{gamma}, where the {Omega}{sub c}{sup 0} baryon is reconstructed in the decays to the final states {Omega}{sup -}{pi}{sup +}, {Omega}{sup -} {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup 0}, {Omega}{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup +}, and {Xi}{sup -} K{sup -} {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup +}. This analysis is performed using a dataset of 230.7 fb{sup -1} collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The mass difference between the {Omega}*{sub c} and the {Omega}{sub c}{sup 0} baryons is measured to be 70.8 {+-} 1.0(stat) {+-} 1.1(syst) MeV/c{sup 2}. They also measure the ratio of inclusive production cross sections of {Omega}*{sub c} and {Omega}{sub c}{sup 0} in e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation.
