Program Monitoring And Visualization written by Clinton L. Jeffery and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Computers categories.
In computer science, the primary application of visualization technology is software visualization: the use of graphics to portray information obtained from a static or dynamic analysis of a program. Software visualization is used in several phases of the software development lifecycle, but it is of particular interest in the "back- end" tasks of debugging, performance tuning, and understanding complex systems in order to maintain them. Software visualization is expected to improve the back end of the software development process which can result in huge cost savings. Debugging, tuning and maintaining programs comprise the majority of the high costs associated with software development. Unfortunately, the rate at which these software technologies have improved has been gradual. The task of writing software visualization tools is difficult, and most existing systems are limited to a narrow scope, such as the visualization of a single well-understood algorithm from a hand-instrumented source program. This book presents software visualization at a level suitable for a senior level undergraduate or graduate course or for the interested technical professional. The approach is to give a survey of the field, and then present a specific research framework designed to reduce the effort required to write visualization tools. A wide range of simple program control flow and data structure visualizations are then presented as examples of how to obtain information about program behavior, and how to present it graphically. Source code fragments and screen images illustrate each example.

Welcome to Middleware'98 and to one of England's most beautiful regions. In recent years the distributed systems community has witnessed a growth in the number of conferences, leading to difficulties in tracking the literature and a consequent loss of awareness of work done by others in this important field. The aim of Middleware'98 is to synthesise many of the smaller workshops and conferences in this area, bringing together research communities which were becoming fragmented. The conference has been designed to maximise the experience for attendees. This is reflected in the choice of a resort venue (rather than a big city) to ensure a strong focus on interaction with other distributed systems researchers. The programme format incorporates a question-and-answer panel in each session, enabling significant issues to be discussed in the context of related papers and presentations. The invited speakers and tutorials are intended to not only inform the attendees, but also to stimulate discussion and debate.

It is twenty years after America hopelessly fractured into many different nations. In a trendy nightspot, operatives from one of the conglomerates that rule the nation of Kansas City trap a man who was once a rising star. Just a week before, Keith Logan was first in his law school class, envied for his meteoric rise in a desperate world. Now he only wants to survive long enough to deliver an explosive message to his hated rival and last hope, Jake McCain. Keith Logan's disappearance triggers a series of events with drastic consequences for the survival of both Kansas City and its longstanding enemy, a tenacious democracy to the north, the Prairie Federation. To most people, Jake McCain looks like an average law student. But for years, he has disciplined his mind and body for twin purposes: to steal secrets and sabotage the city's dictators. He has stifled a bottomless personal grief to do so, surrendering not only family but his one chance at happiness for the sake of others. Now, his moment arrives. If Jake can solve the mystery of Keith Logan, he knows he can prevent a war. Fast, loaded with twists, and containing an unforgettable character who grows progressively more--not less--mysterious as the novel unfolds, The Splintering is an apocalyptic action thriller.
