A Cosmological Reformulation Of Anselm S Proof That God Exists written by Richard Campbell and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-11-15 with Philosophy categories.

In this book, Richard Campbell reformulates Anselm’s proof to show that factual evidence confirmed by modern cosmology validly implies that God exists. Anselm’s proof, which was never the “ontological argument” attributed to him, emerges as engaging with current philosophical issues concerning existence and scientific explanation. Because every observable thing has a beginning, it can be deduced that there is always in reality something than which a greater cannot be thought, which exists necessarily. It follows that its non-existence is inconceivable. Anselm then proves that this is the God in whom he believes, who alone so truly exists that He could not be thought not to exist. The contingent nature of the universe is therefore a consequence of the proven belief that God is the Creator of everything else.

The Fragmentation Of Being written by Kris McDaniel and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-28 with Philosophy categories.

The Fragmentation of Being offers answers to some of the most fundamental questions in ontology. There are many kinds of beings but are there also many kinds of being? The world contains a variety of objects, each of which, let us provisionally assume, exists, but do some objects exist in different ways? Do some objects enjoy more being or existence than other objects? Are there different ways in which one object might enjoy more being than another? Most contemporary metaphysicians would answer "no" to each of these questions. So widespread is this consensus that the questions this book addressed are rarely even raised let alone explicitly answered. But Kris McDaniel carefully examines a wide range of reasons for answering each of these questions with a "yes". In doing so, he connects these questions with many important metaphysical topics, including substance and accident, time and persistence, the nature of ontological categories, possibility and necessity, presence and absence, persons and value, ground and consequence, and essence and accident. In addition to discussing contemporary problems and theories, McDaniel also discusses the ontological views of many important figures in the history of philosophy, including Aquinas, Aristotle, Descartes, Heidegger, Husserl, Kant, Leibniz, Meinong, and many more.

Financial Market Design By An Agent Based Model written by Takanobu Mizuta and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-02-10 with Business & Economics categories.

This is the first book to focus on designing a financial market that works well, and that includes making and/or modulating detailed regulations and/or rules, by a computer simulation of an agent-based artificial financial market model (ABAFMM). The design of a financial market is very important for the development and maintenance of an advanced economy, but designing it is not easy because changes in detailed rules, even those that seem trivial, sometimes have unexpectedly large impacts and side effects in a financial market, which is a complex system. Traditional economics cannot treat a financial market as a complex system in which micro–macro interaction and feedback loops have played essential roles, because traditional economics can only treat macrophenomena and micro processes separately. ABAFMM can do it, however. This book explains, first, why ABAFMMs are needed to design financial markets and which models have good features. Following that explanation, the book discusses how to build the models. Then, cases of recent studies and their contributions are shown, and finally, the difficulties of researchers in this field are considered. This book is expected to facilitate the design of more ABAFMMs to contribute to creating financial markets that will further develop and maintain advanced economies.

Why The World Does Not Exist written by Markus Gabriel and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-07-06 with Philosophy categories.

Where do we come from? Are we merely a cluster of elementaryparticles in a gigantic world receptacle? And what does it allmean? In this highly original new book, the philosopher Markus Gabrielchallenges our notion of what exists and what it means to exist. Hequestions the idea that there is a world that encompasseseverything like a container life, the universe, and everythingelse. This all-inclusive being does not exist and cannot exist. Forthe world itself is not found in the world. And even when we thinkabout the world, the world about which we think is obviously notidentical with the world in which we think. For, as we are thinkingabout the world, this is only a very small event in the world.Besides this, there are still innumerable other objects and events:rain showers, toothaches and the World Cup. Drawing on the recenthistory of philosophy, Gabriel asserts that the world cannot existat all, because it is not found in the world. Yet with theexception of the world, everything else exists; even unicornson the far side of the moon wearing police uniforms. Revelling in witty thought experiments, word play, and thecourage of provocation, Markus Gabriel demonstrates the necessityof a questioning mind and the role that humour can play in comingto terms with the abyss of human existence.

THE GROUP By Dr. James Lowther Danny Carter has won a scholarship to attend Enlightenment University in New England. Since Danny wants to be a Christian philosopher, he accepts the challenge of going to a completely and unabashedly humanistic university in order to learn philosophy. Shortly after matriculating to the school he is annoyed by a classmate's ridiculing of his faith, so Danny challenges this student, Peter Grayson, just to listen to a complete Christian apologetic without ridicule or interruption before he makes such scathing judgments. Peter takes him up on his challenge and invites Danny to a philosophy club meeting to present his case and undergo due scrutiny. Danny accepts and six sessions are set up to discuss the Bible, origins, morality, and evidences of faith. The book is honest about criticisms of the Bible and faith and answers to them. In the meantime Danny tries to find a good church home near campus that is somewhat akin to his home church in northeast Georgia, runs into the pastor's daughter of a local church who is working at a local coffee shop. He discovers the church through a flyer on the counter of the shop that is advertising the church's fall festival. He walks the five miles to the church in a driving rain storm and for his troubles begins a romantic relationship with the pastor's daughter, finds a loving supporting church that spiritually and tangibly backs his efforts to be a missionary on the secular campus of EU, and finds some trouble when the leading church member's daughter is attracted to Danny. The stream of tension runs furious in three tributaries of Danny's life. First, the attacks on his Christian beliefs and value system are relentless. Second, Danny's hedonistic roommate, an art major, mocks his moral values, but then ends up being hit by a truck after a drinking binge. Third, Danny's romantic interest in the pastor's daughter of the church he started attending is complicated by the blonde daughter of the lead deacon in the church, a rich lawyer, aggressively pursuing Danny. Though the book has its light moments it is a serious work to arm Christian students to defend their faith in school and guard them against attacks on that faith. The book does not soft peddle the criticisms against the Bible, but instead tries to answer those criticisms forthrightly. It is the author's long held believe that that Bible and the Christian faith will stand firm against the strongest arguments thrown at them. It is with this aim that the book is written.

Based on a lecture given by the Dalai Lama on the wisdom chapter of A Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life, this book comments on Tibetan Buddhist philosophy in a clear and direct way. Shantideva’s A Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life is one of the most important texts in the Mahayana tradition of Buddhist practice. Its ninth chapter, the section on transcendent wisdom, is known among Buddhist scholars as a challenging exposition of Madhyamika philosophy and difficult to understand without a commentary. This extraordinarily clear discussion of the wisdom chapter is based on an oral teaching given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama before an audience of thousands of Tibetans and Westerners. This invaluable volume with its precise explanation of core issues of Tibetan Buddhism stands as a key work in Buddhist literature. This book was previously published under the title Transcendent Wisdom.
