Non Visual Landscape written by Nikolas Hasanagas and has been published by Columbia University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-10-01 with Architecture categories.

Landscape is the impression given by a place. The five senses construct five landscapes: there is not only the visual landscape but also non-visual landscapes such as smell, touch, sound ('sound-scape'), and taste landscapes. The visual landscape is experienced by most people, while the remaining four non-visual landscapes mainly construct the non-visual world of the blind. In their innovative study, Angeliki Koskina and Nikolas Hasanagas explore this non-visual world on an empirical basis. What landscapes do blind people prefer? Is the natural or built environment most attractive for them? How differently do blind people perceive the 'landscape' compared to sighted people? Which feelings does the landscape evoke in blind people, and which values do they attach to these feelings? How satisfied do they feel with the urban or natural landscapes where they live? Spatial Planning and Land-scape Design for handicapped people constitute a much-discussed academic and social issue. Koskina's and Hasanagas' study in the Anthropology of Senses and in Landscape Sociology can be used as an aid tool for planners and designers as well as researchers in various areas such as Architecture, Medicine, Social Sciences, or Psychology.

Emerging Landscapes written by Davide Deriu and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-05-06 with Architecture categories.

Emerging Landscapes brings together scholars and practitioners working in a wide range of disciplines within the fields of the built environment and visual arts to explore landscape as an idea, an image, and a material practice in an increasingly globalized world. Drawing on the synergies between the fields of architecture and photography, this collection takes a multidisciplinary approach, combining practice-based research with scholarly essays. It explores and critically reassesses the interface between representation - the imaginary and symbolic shaping of the human environment - and production - the physical and material changes wrought on the land. At a time of environmental crisis and the ’end of nature, ’shifting geopolitical boundaries and economic downturn, Emerging Landscapes reflects on the state of landscape and its future, mapping those practices that creatively address the boundaries between possibility, opportunity and action in imagining and shaping landscape.

Canada's landscape and how people relate to it have been predominant themes in Canadian painting. Exploration of this vast and richly varied environment, people's place within it and their attitudes toward it have been driving forces in Canadian art since the beginning of secular imagery in the country. Whether it was early artists such as Robert Clow Todd and Cornelius Krieghoff documenting the winter wonderland of nineteeth-century Quebec, or The Group of Seven exploring the length and breadth of the country through their practice, succeeding generations of artists have made a significant contribution to our understanding of the country.Embracing Canada: Landscapes from Krieghoff to The Group of Seven combines over 150 works from the Vancouver Art Gallery's permanent collection and an eminent private collection of Canadian painting to present a comprehensive survey of Canadian landscapes made between the mid-eighteenth and mid- nineteenth centuries.

Elements Of Visual Design In The Landscape written by Simon Bell and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-03-01 with Architecture categories.

Public concern about the landscape, in particular its appearance, is increasing all the time. For those charged with managing, developing or conserving a wide range of landscapes it is a major task to take visual aspects into account. Elements of Visual Design in the Landsacpe presents a vocabulary of visual design, structured in a logical and easy to follow sequence. It is profusely illustrated using both abstract and real examples taken from a wide range of international locations together with cross referencing between related principles and case studies demonstrating how the principles can be applied in practice. The visual aspects of design have often been treated as 'cosmetic' and therefore not meriting attention or purely subjective and therefore open to personal preference. Few attempts have been made to explain how we see the landscape in any rational and structured way, and to demonstrate how visually creative design and management can be undertaken. This book aims to fill that gap.

The fourth book in Nadia Amoroso‘s Representing Landscapes series, this text focuses on traditional methods of visual representation in landscape architectural education. Building on from the previous titles in the series, which look at digital and hybrid techniques, Representing Landscapes: Analogue is a return to the basic foundations of landscape architecture’s original medium of visual communication. Each of the 20 chapters includes contributions from leading professors teaching studio and visual communication courses from landscape architecture programs across the globe, showcasing the best student examples of analog techniques. It demonstrates the process from graphics as a form of research, design development, and analysis, to the final presentation through drawings, models and descriptive captions of the methods, styles and techniques used. It features critical and descriptive essays from expert professors and lecturers in the field, who emphasise the importance of the traditional medium as an intrinsic part of the research, design and presentation process. Over 220 full colour images explore the range of visual approaches students and practitioners of landscape architecture can implement in their designs. With worked examples in the chapters and downloadable images suitable for class use, this is an essential book for visual communication and design studios.
