The Weibull distribution has been one of the most cited lifetime distributions in reliability engineering. Over the last decade, many generalizations and extensions of the Weibull have been proposed in order to provide more flexibility than the traditional version when it comes to modeling lifetime data in diverse fields. This book offers an update on these developments, presenting the essential properties of each model. Several plots of density and hazard rate functions are also included, and a brief outline of known application(s) for each model is also given.

G Families Of Probability Distributions written by Mir Masoom Ali and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-03-31 with Mathematics categories.

Statistical distributions are essential tools to model the characteristics of datasets, such as right or left skewness, bi-modality or multi-modality observed in different applied sciences, such as engineering, medicine, and finance. The well-known distributions like normal, Weibull, gamma and Lindley are extensively used because of their simple forms and identifiability properties. In the last decade, researchers have focused on the more complex and flexible distributions, referred to as Generalized or simply G families of probability distributions, to increase the modelling capability of these distributions by adding one or more shape parameters. The main aim of this edited book is to present new contributions by researchers in the field of G families of probability distributions. The book will help researchers to: Develop new univariate continuous and discrete G families of probability distributions. Develop new bivariate continuous and discrete G families of probability distributions. Derive beneficial mathematical properties such as ordinary and incomplete moments, moment generating functions, residual life and reversed residual life functions, order statistics, quantile spread ordering and entropies, and some bivariate and multivariate extensions of the new and existing models using a simple-type copula.

Gamma And Related Distributions written by K. Carolynne Ayienda and has been published by BoD – Books on Demand this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-02-27 with Mathematics categories.

The gamma distribution is one of the continuous distributions. Gamma distributions are very versatile and give useful presentations of many physical situations. They are perhaps the most applied statistical distribution in the area of reliability. Gamma distributions are of different types, 1, 2, 3, 4-parameters. They are applied in different fields, among them finance, economics, hydrological and in civil engineering. In this study we have constructed different types of gamma distributions using transformation/change of variable and cumulative techniques and calculated their properties using moments, identified their special cases and calculated their properties too. We have also constructed gamma related distribution using transformation and cumulative techniques and most of these distributions are expressed using special functions, also we have used the gamma-generator and gamma exponetiated–generator to generate new family of distributions.

Recent Advances In Lifetime And Reliability Models written by Gauss M. Cordeiro and has been published by Bentham Science Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-04-20 with Mathematics categories.

Introduction: Mathematicians and statisticians have made significant academic progress on the subject of distribution theory in the last two decades, and this area of study is becoming one of the main statistical tools for the analysis of lifetime (survival) data. In many ways, lifetime distributions are the common language of survival dialogue because the framework subsumes many statistical properties of interest, such as reliability, entropy and maximum likelihood. Recent Advances in Lifetime and Reliability Models provides a comprehensive account of models and methods for lifetime models. Building from primary definitions such as density and hazard rate functions, this book presents readers a broad framework on distribution theory in survival analysis. This framework covers classical methods - such as the exponentiated distribution method – as well as recent models explaining lifetime distributions, such as the beta family and compounding models. Additionally, a detailed discussion of mathematical and statistical properties of each family, such as mixture representations, asymptotes, types of moments, order statistics, quantile functions, generating functions and estimation is presented in the book. Key Features: - presents information about classical and modern lifetime methods - covers key properties of different models in detail - explores regression models for the beta generalized family of distributions - focuses information on both theoretical fundamentals and practical aspects of implementing different models - features examples relevant to business engineering and biomedical sciences Recent Advances in Lifetime and Reliability Models will equip students, researchers and working professionals with the information to make extensive use of observational data in a variety of fields to create inferential models that make sense of lifetime data.

This book offers a thorough and updated guide to the theory and methods of progressive censoring, an area that has experienced tremendous growth over the last decade. The theory has developed quite nicely in some special cases having practical applications to reliability and quality. The Art of Progressive Censoring is a valuable reference for graduate students, researchers, and practitioners in applied statistics, quality control, life testing, and reliability. With its accessible style and concrete examples, the work may also be used as a textbook in an advanced undergraduate or a beginning graduate course on censoring or progressive censoring, as well as a supplementary textbook for a course on ordered data.

Distributions For Modeling Location Scale And Shape written by Robert A. Rigby and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-10-08 with Mathematics categories.

This is a book about statistical distributions, their properties, and their application to modelling the dependence of the location, scale, and shape of the distribution of a response variable on explanatory variables. It will be especially useful to applied statisticians and data scientists in a wide range of application areas, and also to those interested in the theoretical properties of distributions. This book follows the earlier book ‘Flexible Regression and Smoothing: Using GAMLSS in R’, [Stasinopoulos et al., 2017], which focused on the GAMLSS model and software. GAMLSS (the Generalized Additive Model for Location, Scale, and Shape, [Rigby and Stasinopoulos, 2005]), is a regression framework in which the response variable can have any parametric distribution and all the distribution parameters can be modelled as linear or smooth functions of explanatory variables. The current book focuses on distributions and their application. Key features: Describes over 100 distributions, (implemented in the GAMLSS packages in R), including continuous, discrete and mixed distributions. Comprehensive summary tables of the properties of the distributions. Discusses properties of distributions, including skewness, kurtosis, robustness and an important classification of tail heaviness. Includes mixed distributions which are continuous distributions with additional specific values with point probabilities. Includes many real data examples, with R code integrated in the text for ease of understanding and replication. Supplemented by the gamlss website. This book will be useful for applied statisticians and data scientists in selecting a distribution for a univariate response variable and modelling its dependence on explanatory variables, and to those interested in the properties of distributions.
