This volume contains the proceedings of the Maurice Auslander Distinguished Lectures and International Conference, held April 25-30, 2012, in Falmouth, MA. The representation theory of finite dimensional algebras and related topics, especially cluster combinatorics, is a very active topic of research. This volume contains papers covering both the history and the latest developments in this topic. In particular, Otto Kerner gives a review of basic theorems and latest results about wild hereditary algebras, Yuri Berest develops the theory of derived representation schemes, and Markus Schmidmeier presents new applications of arc diagrams.

This volume contains the proceedings of the conference Perspectives in Representation Theory, held from May 12-17, 2012, at Yale University, in honor of Igor Frenkel's 60th birthday. The aim of the conference was to present current progress on the following (interrelated) topics: vertex operator algebras and chiral algebras, conformal field theory, the (geometric) Langlands program, affine Lie algebras, Kac-Moody algebras, quantum groups, crystal bases and canonical bases, quantum cohomology and K-theory, geometric representation theory, categorification, higher-dimensional Kac-Moody theory, integrable systems, quiver varieties, representations of real and -adic groups, and quantum gauge theories. The papers in this volume present representation theory connections to numerous other subjects, as well as some of the most recent advances in representation theory, including those which occurred thanks to the application of techniques in other areas of mathematics, and of ideas of quantum field theory and string theory.

This volume contains selected expository lectures delivered at the Maurice Auslander Distinguished Lectures and International Conference, held May 1–6, 2014, at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, Woods Hole, MA. Several significant developments of the last decade in representation theory of finite-dimensional algebras are related to combinatorics. Three of the five lectures in this volume deal, respectively, with the Catalan combinatorics, the combinatorics of Gelfand-Zetlin polytopes, and the combinatorics of tilting modules. The remaining papers present history and recent advances in the study of left orders in left Artinian rings and a survey on invariant theory of Artin-Schelter regular algebras.

These proceedings comprise two workshops celebrating the accomplishments of David J. Benson on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday. The papers presented at the meetings were representative of the many mathematical subjects he has worked on, with an emphasis on group prepresentations and cohomology. The first workshop was titled "Groups, Representations, and Cohomology" and held from June 22 to June 27, 2015 at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. The second was a combination of a summer school and workshop on the subject of "Geometric Methods in the Representation Theory of Finite Groups" and took place at the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver from July 27 to August 5, 2016. The contents of the volume include a composite of both summer school material and workshop-derived survey articles on geometric and topological aspects of the representation theory of finite groups. The mission of the annually sponsored Summer Schools is to train and draw new students, and help Ph.D students transition to independent research.

This volume contains selected expository lectures delivered at the annual Maurice Auslander Distinguished Lectures and International Conference over the last several years. Reflecting the diverse landscape of modern representation theory of algebras, the selected articles include: a quick introduction to silting modules; a survey on the first decade of co-t-structures in triangulated categories; a functorial approach to the notion of module; a representation-theoretic approach to recollements in abelian categories; new examples of applications of relative homological algebra; connections between Coxeter groups and quiver representations; and recent progress on limits of approximation theory.

Introduction To Representation Theory written by Pavel I. Etingof and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Mathematics categories.
Very roughly speaking, representation theory studies symmetry in linear spaces. It is a beautiful mathematical subject which has many applications, ranging from number theory and combinatorics to geometry, probability theory, quantum mechanics, and quantum field theory. The goal of this book is to give a ``holistic'' introduction to representation theory, presenting it as a unified subject which studies representations of associative algebras and treating the representation theories of groups, Lie algebras, and quivers as special cases. Using this approach, the book covers a number of standard topics in the representation theories of these structures. Theoretical material in the book is supplemented by many problems and exercises which touch upon a lot of additional topics; the more difficult exercises are provided with hints. The book is designed as a textbook for advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate students. It should be accessible to students with a strong background in linear algebra and a basic knowledge of abstract algebra.

Lectures In Algebraic Combinatorics written by Adriano M. Garsia and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-06 with Mathematics categories.
Capturing Adriano Garsia's unique perspective on essential topics in algebraic combinatorics, this book consists of selected, classic notes on a number of topics based on lectures held at the University of California, San Diego over the past few decades. The topics presented share a common theme of describing interesting interplays between algebraic topics such as representation theory and elegant structures which are sometimes thought of as being outside the purview of classical combinatorics. The lectures reflect Garsia’s inimitable narrative style and his exceptional expository ability. The preface presents the historical viewpoint as well as Garsia's personal insights into the subject matter. The lectures then start with a clear treatment of Alfred Young's construction of the irreducible representations of the symmetric group, seminormal representations and Morphy elements. This is followed by an elegant application of SL(2) representations to algebraic combinatorics. The last two lectures are on heaps, continued fractions and orthogonal polynomials with applications, and finally there is an exposition on the theory of finite fields. The book is aimed at graduate students and researchers in the field.

This book contains written versions of the lectures given at the PCMI Graduate Summer School on the representation theory of Lie groups. The volume begins with lectures by A. Knapp and P. Trapa outlining the state of the subject around the year 1975, specifically, the fundamental results of Harish-Chandra on the general structure of infinite-dimensional representations and the Langlands classification. Additional contributions outline developments in four of the most active areas of research over the past 20 years. The clearly written articles present results to date, as follows: R. Zierau and L. Barchini discuss the construction of representations on Dolbeault cohomology spaces. D. Vogan describes the status of the Kirillov-Kostant "philosophy of coadjoint orbits" for unitary representations. K. Vilonen presents recent advances in the Beilinson-Bernstein theory of "localization". And Jian-Shu Li covers Howe's theory of "dual reductive pairs". Each contributor to the volume presents the topics in a unique, comprehensive, and accessible manner geared toward advanced graduate students and researchers. Students should have completed the standard introductory graduate courses for full comprehension of the work. The book would also serve well as a supplementary text for a course on introductory infinite-dimensional representation theory. Titles in this series are co-published with the Institute for Advanced Study/Park City Mathematics Institute.
