A collection of writings from a Grieving Heart will make you laugh, cry and remember those loved ones you've lost long ago or just recently. There is not a person in the world who hasn't experienced loss in some form and been thrown into the grieving process. Some find it more difficult than others. This book comes from my personal experiences, of which there are far too many, in my opinion. If I must suffer the effects of grief and loss repeatedly, I want to make it worthwhile, not only for myself, but others. It is my hope that these pages will connect with your heart and ease your soul. Love & Hugs Mary Hayward

My only son was murdered in December 2012 and I was having a very hard time dealing with my grief. I looked into councelling groups but the meetings were held on week nights, and this was impossilbe for me as I work an afternoon shift. I would come home from work and write how I felt in a notepad, as I was doing this, my expressions of grief were coming out in poems. I began posting my expressions of my grief on my facebook page., my family would comment on how beautiful they were, and that maybe I should consider publishing them in a book. I thought no who would really want to read about my grief and how I hurt inside. Then I found a facebook page for grieving mothers and began posting my expressions there. In no time so many grieving mothers from all over were wanting to share my poems. They had all encouraged my to write my expressions in a book and thats what I've done. For all the grieving mothers in the world this is from my heart.

Expressions is a book of feelings by a grieving father expressed through poetry. Each poem has a short story to describe what brought the poem to life. Expressions also deals with the effects of PTSD through poetry as well. I was involved in a boating tragedy that took the life of my friend of over 15 years that some of my poetry touches on. I also included poems to my wife who saved my life in 2014.

Exploring Grief written by Michael Hviid Jacobsen and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-09-24 with Social Science categories.

As modern society’s routine sequestration of death and grief is increasingly replaced by late-modern society’s growing concern with existential issues and emotionality, this book explores grief as a social emotion, bringing together contributions from scholars across the social sciences and humanities to examine its social and cultural aspects. Thematically organised in order to consider the historical changes in our understanding of grief, literary treatments of grief, contemporary forms of grief and grief as a perspective from which to engage in critique of society, it provides insights into the sociality of grief and will appeal to scholars of sociology, social theory and cultural studies with interests in the emotions and social pathologies.

Going through grief and mourning is a profound human experience. It is highly individual, but also communal. As we do not live for ourselves and alone, we do not mourn for ourselves and isolated, but together in many different systems of families, friends and strangers. Everybody experiences his/her grief differently and expresses her/his mourning in different ways. "Living in the Village of Grief" is designed to help to navigate this difficult time. It can serve as a tool for self-help. And it is a suggestion to understand and live with the expression of grief of those around us. The book offers a narrative approach to grief, the theoretical background to understanding grief and a practical approach to deal with grief in groups.

The Cue For Passion written by Gail Holst-Warhaft and has been published by Harvard University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Family & Relationships categories.

Having set aside age-old ways of mourning, how do people in the modern world cope with tragic loss? Using traditional mourning rituals as an instructive touchstone, Gail Holst-Warhaft explores the ways sorrow is managed in our own times and how mourning can be manipulated for social and political ends. Since ancient times political and religious authorities have been alert to the dangerously powerful effects of communal expressions of grief--while valuing mourning rites as a controlled outlet for emotion. But today grief is often seen as a psychological problem: the bereaved are encouraged to seek counseling or take antidepressants. At the same time, we have witnessed some striking examples of manipulation of shared grief for political effect. One instance is the unprecedented concentration on recovery of the remains of Americans killed in the Vietnam War. In Buenos Aires the Mothers of the Disappeared forged the passion of their grief into a political weapon. Similarly the gay community in the United States, transformed by grief and rage, not only lobbied effectively for AIDS victims but channeled their emotions into fresh artistic expression. It might be argued that, in contrast to earlier cultures, modern society has largely abdicated its role in managing sorrow. But in The Cue for Passion we see that some communities, moved by the intensity of their grief, have utilized it to gain ground for their own agendas.
