Also this study aims to know on how students cope up the difficulties they’ve experienced while joining extra-curricular activities. Only fifteen selected students are involved in the research, thus we recommend that they must gather more respondents in order for them to generalize the views and experiences of the students for having an extra-curricular in school. Based on the data that we gathered from all of our respondents that are involved in extra-curricular activities, many of them share the same experiences regarding their participation on ECA. They gain experiences that positively affect them and can be used to improve and enhance not only their grades but their skills and their personality as a student and as a person. For all the students who have extra-curricular activities, researchers recommend that if they will involve to this kind of activity, they should balance their time management in order to not affect their academic performance. In addition, for students who wants to have extra-curricular activities, we recommend that they should prioritize their academics first before other things so that they could not suffer difficulties especially when it comes to projects, assignments and tests.

The goal of this qualitative study was to explore the experiences of Black high school students who participated in Black Lives Matter protests in Los Angeles in 2020. While research has been conducted on the effects of student participation in school-based protests, and in political-engagement assignments couched within a school curriculum, little information is available on the effects of student participation in independent extra-institutional political actions. The study aimed to shed light on the protest experiences of students and how their participation potentially influenced them. The hope was for findings to provide communities and schools with information that might help them better support Students of Color. Engaging a conceptual framework steeped in Yosso's (2005) concept of Community Cultural Wealth (CCW) and Freire's (1970, 1993) critical consciousness (CC) and critical action (CA), the act of protest and the perceived learning its spaces cultivated were viewed with an eye to Transformative Resistant Capital (TRC). The study found that, as a result of participating in protests, participants reported they were able to process past and present racial traumas, cultivate a critical lens in relation to the world around them, and activate their voices and creative expression, with the support of educator mentors. These findings were significant in that (1) perceived learning occurred in an independent, extra-institutional experiential protest context, (2) a conceptual framework emerged from participant narratives that might contribute to future pedagogical approaches to effective TRC-based programs such as YPAR (Youth Participatory Action Research), and (3) these findings speak to a new post-pandemic, post-BLM historical moment of potential educational reform. Implications suggest that schools serving BIPOC students offer opportunities for experiential and arts programming that emphasizes social-emotional processing of racial traumas, and critical action, with a focus on culturally responsive, trauma-informed educator training.

This book introduces findings from an international, cross-cultural, and interdisciplinary study of children’s everyday experiences of growing up and going to school in the context of the three global cities of Hong Kong, Singapore and Melbourne. It takes the premise that children’s learning and orientations to educational success are shaped by everyday cultural practices at home and at school, by policy contexts that both produce and respond to educational and cultural norms, and by individual and familial desires and aspirations. Drawing on research conducted with primary school-aged children in Year 4, the book considers how day-to-day routines such as going to school, engaging in extra-curricular activities outside of school, and spending time at home with family intersect with the broader milieus of education policy ideals in a changing and interconnected world. Through a combination of visual methodologies, surveys, ethnographic observations in schools, classrooms and cityscapes, re-enactments of everyday activities with children at home, and sociological education policy analysis, this book shows both the richness of children’s everyday lives and learning in global cities, as well as exploring questions that pose challenges to educational and social norms.

This volume offers a wide array of cutting-edge original research on the implementation of Foreign Language Pedagogy in translator and interpreter training, a still rather unexplored field of research in Translation Studies.
