Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Politik, Majoritäten, Minoritäten, Note: 1,3, Universität Mannheim (Lehrstuhl für Politische Wissenschaft und International Vergleichende Sozialforschung), Veranstaltung: Einführung in die Politische Soziologie: Sozialkapital in Osteuropa, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Nach den sechsten Parlamentswahlen in Ungarn am 11. und 25. April 20101 erreichte die rechtsextreme Partei „Jobbik“ 12.2% der Sitze und zog somit als drittstärkste Fraktion in das ungarische Parlament ein. Das besondere an diesem Ereignis ist, dass die „Jobbik“ eine faschistisch-nationalsozialistische Ideologie vertritt und somit dem „harten“ Rechtsextremismus zuzuordnen ist. Im Gegensatz dazu steht die völkisch-nationalistische Ideologie „weicher“ Rechtsextremistischer Parteien, die bereits in vielen EU-Staaten erfolgreich sind. Diese Konzentration von „harter“ rechtsextremer politischer Macht im Parlament eines der Mitgliedsstaaten der Europäischen Union ist einmalig. Besonders auffällig ist hierbei, dass Ungarn den Entwicklungen in westeuropäischen Staaten folgt, in denen schon länger „weiche“ rechtsextremistische Parteien in den Parlamenten vertreten und auch teilweise an der nationalen Regierung beteiligt sind. Angestoßen durch die Bedrohung, die diese Entwicklung für Freiheit, Demokratie und den Prozess der Europäischen Integration darstellt, wird in dieser Seminararbeit folgende Frage gestellt: Ist die ungarische Bevölkerung empfänglicher für rechtsextremistische Parteien als die Bevölkerung anderer EU-Staaten?

Transforming the transformation? The East European Radical Right in the Political Process examines the significance of radical right parties, along with other organizations, in terms of their involvement in the political process of new democracies. During the 1970s todays Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Forschung, BMBWF) supported the founding of the Center for Austrian Studies at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and the Austrian Chair at Stanford University in California. These foundings were the initial incentives for the worldwide `spreading' of similar institutions; currently, nine Centers for Austrian and Central European Studies exist in seven countries on three continents. The funding of the Ministry enables to connect senior scholars with young scholars, to help young PhD students, to participate in and to benefit from the scientific connection of experienced researchers, and to get in touch with the national scientific community by `sniffing scientific air', as the Austrians like to say. Furthermore, it aims to avoid prejudices, and to spread a better understanding and knowledge about Austria and Central Europe by promoting scientific exchange. This book is a comparative analysis of the post-communist East European radical right, both in party and non-party formation, using the West European radical right as a baseline. Minkenberg offers insights into the political field of the radical right since the onset of democracy in the region and elicits region-wide and country-specific characteristics. The book argues that due to the nature of the transition process from Soviet hegemony to national independence and from communist to democratic societies, and the unfinished process of nation-building in the region, the radical right in Eastern Europe is a phenomenon sui generis, both organizationally more fluid and ideologically more extreme than the Western counterpart. The issues covered include trends in party system and electoral developments, patterns of movement mobilization and racist activism, and the impact of the radical right on their countries’ politics and policies.
