Dedicated scientist Elizabeth McKay has spent almost a decade cracking the code of humpback whale communication. Their song, the most complex in nature, may in fact reveal unimaginable secrets about the animal world. When a humpback whale swims up the Sacramento River with a strange and unprecedented song, Elizabeth must decipher its meaning in order to save the whale and ultimately much more. But as her work captures the media’s interest, powerful forces emerge to stop her from revealing the animal’s secrets. Soon, Elizabeth is forced to decide if her discoveries are worth losing her marriage, her career, and possibly her life. Life can be a conscious voyage on the sea of dreams, surfing the waves of love. This book is a response to the calling of my soul, who longed to tell her story which might inspire people to open up to live their story according to their own inner wisdom. Our soul keeps us constantly connected to the Source, and you might already have your preferred way of communicating with it. Whether through prayer, meditation, dreaming, or by listening to intuition, body awareness, breath flow, the language of nature, or the magic of synchronicity, everyone has access to their guidance within. We all carry a unique gift we have come here to develop and that makes each being an original work of art. While we live, we are fully responsible for our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual condition. We were born into a specific body and background, potentially aware of how on a deeper level everything is interconnected – at the level of body, soul, humanity, our planet and the universe at large. Creating this book has become a three-year journey of healing, self-acceptance and increasing awareness of the uniqueness of my own journey. Where is the place on Earth where I am supposed to be? I asked myself a few years ago. During that time, my natural desire to grow my awareness on the path to mastery in being myself attracted many kindred spirits who whom we support each other. We enjoy being and living this mystery together. The dream of our soul holds the idea of what it wants to experience and create for ages and across lifetimes. The task of our human self is to open up to this big dream of the soul and allow it to reconcile anything that is not aligned with this great soul’s intent in our current life. Each of us moves within the flow of life as an endless experiment. Collectively, we are on Earth in the middle of a war for our consciousness and energy. The only way out of the chaos is through higher vibrational states of being such as love, peace and joy. It all starts with our thoughts, emotions, words and actions. Let’s not wait for any savior to tell us what to do. Instead, let’s turn inward. To the truth about the light of the Source, which is our essence. Let’s anchor in the awareness that we are love and thus allow our body to radiate it in the form of light outside of us. A few years ago, I had a dream in which I was presented with a list of values that will be fundamental on Earth in the future. I missed humanity among them. Our soul, heart, empathy and humanness, these qualities are now needed more than ever before. As the old structures of the outside world fall apart and we are seemingly constrained by restrictions, we are presented a life chance to immerse ourselves inside and by consciously sailing the endless sea of dreams on the waves of love, to return to our essence, which is crystal clear love. Only when we harmonize within may the outside world change. The game we play here therefore begins and ends inside each of us.

On a cool December morning near San Francisco, a distress call was radioed to shore by a local fisherman. He had discovered a humpback whale tangled in hundreds of yards of crab-trap lines, struggling to stay afloat. A team of volunteers answered the call, and four divers risked their lives to rescue the enormous animal. It was the first successful whale disentanglement performed off the West Coast of the United States and prompted a rare and remarkable demonstration of animal behavior. This celebrated story, beautifully depicted in Jennifer O'Connells mesmerizing paintings, will make you wonder about animal emotions and the unique connections we can have with other animals, seven whales. To research The Eye of the Whale, Jennifer traveled to San Francisco where she met Captain Mick Menigoz and rode his rescue boat, Superfish, out into the Pacific Ocean to the area where the events in the book took place. This experience fueled her inspiration as she created the images and words of this extraordinary story.

"Eye of the Whale focuses on one great whale in particularthe coastal-traveling California gray whale. Gray whales make the longest migration of any mammal - from the lagoons of Baja California to the feeding grounds of the Bering Strait between Alaska and Siberia (nearly 6,000 miles). That the gray whale exists today is nothing short of miraculous. Whaling fleets twice massacred the species to near extinction - first during the nineteenth century and again during the early part of the twentieth century."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Eye of the Whale is a mystery novel in which migrating gray whales, those gentle giants of the Pacific, attract a highly respected university professor to a sleepy lagoon on the western shores of Mexico, a lagoon only recently saved from a massive development project. A nearly fatal attack on his daughterOs life and the search for the whereabouts of the professor leads the reader on a dangerous chase in which the hunters become the hunted when the conspiracy Ñ an insidious plot of remorseless revenge Ñ is uncovered. At times poignant, the characters portray events that are not entirely fictional. In addition to its relevance to an environmental issue of world wide interest, the story serves to alert the peoples of Mexico and the United States to a danger of which many are unaware.

Winner of the 2020 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction * Finalist for the 2020 Kirkus Prize for Nonfiction * Finalist for the PEN/E.O. Wilson Literary Science Writing Award A “delving, haunted, and poetic debut” (The New York Times Book Review) about the awe-inspiring lives of whales, revealing what they can teach us about ourselves, our planet, and our relationship with other species. When writer Rebecca Giggs encountered a humpback whale stranded on her local beachfront in Australia, she began to wonder how the lives of whales reflect the condition of our oceans. Fathoms: The World in the Whale is “a work of bright and careful genius” (Robert Moor, New York Times bestselling author of On Trails), one that blends natural history, philosophy, and science to explore: How do whales experience ecological change? How has whale culture been both understood and changed by human technology? What can observing whales teach us about the complexity, splendor, and fragility of life on earth? In Fathoms, we learn about whales so rare they have never been named, whale songs that sweep across hemispheres in annual waves of popularity, and whales that have modified the chemical composition of our planet’s atmosphere. We travel to Japan to board the ships that hunt whales and delve into the deepest seas to discover how plastic pollution pervades our earth’s undersea environment. With the immediacy of Rachel Carson and the lush prose of Annie Dillard, Giggs gives us a “masterly” (The New Yorker) exploration of the natural world even as she addresses what it means to write about nature at a time of environmental crisis. With depth and clarity, she outlines the challenges we face as we attempt to understand the perspectives of other living beings, and our own place on an evolving planet. Evocative and inspiring, Fathoms “immediately earns its place in the pantheon of classics of the new golden age of environmental writing” (Literary Hub).

A child and a whale embark on a beautiful journey together in this lyrical, gorgeously illustrated picture book about friendship, hope, and love for the world around us in the vein of The Fisherman & the Whale and Cynthia Rylant’s Life. Where land becomes sky and sky becomes sea, I first saw the whale and the whale first saw me. A child joins a friendly whale for a magical journey of discovery. They sail the blue ocean, dance with dolphins, and tail-splash seagulls. But the child also sees an ocean filled with plastic trash. And that inspires a promise of help, for the whale and all earth’s creatures.
