Die aktuellen bildungspolitischen Entwicklungen zeigen, dass die Bedeutung der Inklusion für die Schulentwicklung und die zukünftige Ausgestaltung des Bildungswesens kaum zu überschätzen ist.Die zukünftigen Veränderungen hin zu einem "inclusive school system at all levels" stellen hohe Anforderungen an Schulen sowie an die universitäre und schulpraktische Ausbildung. Insbesondere müssen Barrieren der Teilhabe am Unterricht für Schülerinnen und Schüler mit Behinderungserfahrung erkannt und abgebaut und der komplexe Zusammenhang von Migration, Mehrsprachigkeit und Sprachbildung in den Blickpunkt genommen werden. Für die Unterrichtspraxis zeigt sich aktuell daher ein sehr hoher Bedarf an didaktischen Konzepten und Gestaltungsideen für den inklusiven Unterricht. Supporting education through digital technology becomes increasingly important. Especially in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic, online teaching and learning has been increased massively. In these precarious times, multiple approaches have been developed to enable the delivery of online education. This edited volume provides innovative insights into how critical language pedagogy and taboo topics can inform and transform the teaching and learning of foreign languages. The book investigates the potential as well as the challenges involved in dealing with taboo topics in the foreign language classroom. Traditionally subsumed under the acronym PARSNIP (politics, alcohol, religion, narcotics, isms, and pork). By examining how additional controversial topics such as disability, racism, conspiracy theories and taboo language can be integrated into conceptual teaching frameworks and teaching practice, this edited volume draws on examples from literary texts and pop culture such as young adult novels, music videos, or rap songs and investigates their potential for developing critical literacies. The book considers foreign language teaching outside of English teaching contexts and sets the groundwork for addressing the integration of taboo topics in foreign language education theory, research, and practice. Since its successful performance in the PISA studies, at the latest, the Finnish education system has become the focus of public interest. In the media coverage of recent years, the Finnish school system has often been brought into play as a prime example of important educational policy challenges. This is particularly true of the issue of inclusive education. While few studies to date have seriously questioned the Finnish "educational miracle", this book aims to provide an objective account of the current situation in Finland. In doing so, it takes a differentiated and critical look at inclusive schooling in Finland. In order to achieve this, the inclusive school and classroom culture is examined using qualitative research approaches in selected Finnish schools. The building blocks of an inclusive school developed by Reich (2014) are consulted as criteria for analysis. Based on the findings of this study, it is finally examined and discussed what Germany (and other countries) can learn from Finland with regard to the topic of inclusion.
