Develop equity, excellence, and well-being across the whole system! The world is troubled! We need to combine a moral imperative and a system transformation to survive for the better. Education is crucial to our future but needs to play a more direct role in shaping our future. The Devil is in the Details shows how we can re-think the education system and its three levels of leadership—local, middle, and top—so that each level can contribute to dramatic turnaround for education and society. The focus is on examining details to ensure effective actions are taken, rather than assuming large pronouncements and policies will drive change. Readers will find: • Details and analysis about successful systems in California, Ontario, and Australia • Ideas for how leaders at all levels can take steps to begin • Vignettes, actions and strategies that illustrate how to address equity, excellence and well-being With the goal of transforming the culture of learning to develop greater equity, excellence, and student wellbeing, this book will help you liberate the system and maintain focus.

"Developing Change Agents examines the role of academia in creating the next generation of sustainability leaders. Delving into strategies to transform higher education, this volume empowers universities to develop change agents who can scale solutions to meet the wicked environmental, social, and political challenges of the present and future. Developing Change Agents advances a revolutionary perspective on the way academia functions from the administrative hierarchies to faculty, and the classroom and to deep engagement in the communities where the solutions must be co-created. This book works to find a transdisciplinary, effective method of tackling the world’s issues with reference to emotional intelligence, diversity, community, and reward structures and supports a tailored, reflexive approach based upon each university’s diverse and unique students, faculty, programs, and communities"--University of Minnesota Libraries website.

This book is the fourth volume in the six-part series Theory to Practice: Educational Psychology for Teachers and Teaching. The objective of most other volumes in this series is to help instructors apply and model fundamental principles of learning, assessment, motivation, and development in preparing their students for the diverse, multidimensional, uncertain, and socially-embedded classrooms in which these future educators will teach. This volume is a strong compliment to others in the series as it prepares readers to be better positioned to advocate for principles of psychology in their programs and departments, and to prepare preservice teachers to do likewise in the K-12 classrooms they will soon guide. Even more, this volume will help instructors in shaping pre-service teachers to be stronger advocates for their own students. This volume is organized around two themes: (1) Advocating for principles and practices of educational psychology, and (2) advocating for students. These themes go hand-in-hand. While advocating for educational psychology principles and evidence- based practices in their schools, teachers also are called upon to advocate for and empower historically marginalized groups of students. Topics in Part I include development of intercultural competency, implementation of professional learning communities, culturalizing the curriculum, journalistic learning, incorporation of inquiry learning, and universal design. Topics in Part II include supporting student self-advocacy, creating an allyship with LGBTQ+ students, advocating for victims of bullying, and supporting students with mental health needs.
