Child labour as vice has engaged the concerns of human rights activist globally due to its virus manifestation and consequence. In Kenya child labour take various forms. This study was motivated by the need to explain to the tendency within the sisal growing regions of Baringo County. The study was inform by several objective which include income levels of households providing child labour, levels of education of the household heads on decision to provide child labour to the sisal plantation and the socio-cultural factors of the households head. It was found that most of the children were engage due to a number of factors such as financial constrain, education lever of the household head, peer pressure of other children, cultural values among other. This affect the children several way negatively. This study should contribute to knowledge on child welfare and efforts to eradicate child labour. The study has established that association between child gender and decision to provide child labour is statistically significant. There is therefore need to develop strategies to end these factors.

I dati rivelano che i bambini di età compresa tra i 5 e gli 11 anni costretti in forme di lavoro minorile sono aumentati in modo significativo e rappresentano poco più della metà del totale a livello globale. Dal 2016 il numero di minorenni di età compresa tra i 5 e i 17 anni occupati in lavori pericolosi è cresciuto di 6,5 milioni, fino a raggiungere 79 milioni. Il rapporto segnala che nove milioni di bambini in più, a livello globale, rischiano di essere spinti verso il lavoro minorile entro la fine del 2022, a causa della pandemia.

An activity is called as child labor when it involves one of these characteristics in their work's nature. These includes violation of a country's minimum age laws, threatening children physically, mentally, or emotionally, involves intolerable abuse, such as child slavery, child trafficking, debt bondage, forced labor, or illicit activities, prevents children from going to school, uses children to undermine labor standards. Child labor is a term which defines work that is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful to children and interferes with their schooling by: depriving them of the opportunity to attend school; obliging them to leave school prematurely; or requiring them to attempt to combine school attendance with excessively long and heavy work. Children do many activities. Normal activities associated with them are schooling, playing, studying etc. All activities are not child labor like if children help their parent in home chores it's not child labor, but child labor should be referred to those work and activities which are dangerous and hazardous to children's health and development. But when children involve in working activities to earn money by force this is something which is not regarded as justice to the children.
