El presente volumen estudia – por primera vez de forma comparativa tanto en el mundo hispano como germanoparlante – las estructuras léxicas denominadas tradicionalmente «familias de palabras» y las bases teórico-metodológicas de su análisis. En él se discuten los desarrollos teóricos surgidos, sobre todo pero no exclusivamente, en Alemania, España y Francia, ejemplificándolos con las familias derivadas de las raíces dec(ir) y sag(en). Dada la cercanía conceptual de familia léxica con respecto a otras macroestructuras, como el campo semántico, y teniendo en cuenta el interés que presentan tales macroesructuras para la semántica y la teoría del léxico, este volumen inicia una discusión sobre las posibilidades de análisis de este fenómeno léxico-gramatical, partiendo de modelos de análisis específicos en este ámbito, como los de Augst (1998), Morera (2007) y Splett (2009), para proponer puntos de confluencia con otros modelos generales de análisis léxico como el Bierwisch/Wunderlich, Coseriu/Geckeler, Jackendoff, Levin/Rappaport, Morera, Pustejovsky, Trujillo, Van Valin, Wotjak, entre otros.
