Dieci anni prima che pubblicasse il suo capolavoro “I Fiori del Male”, il sublime poeta Charles Baudelaire redasse l’unico scritto in prosa della sua carriera: “La Fanfarlo”. L’origine del titolo dell’opera ha conosciuto nel tempo diverse ipotesi. Si pensa che Baudelaire possa essersi ispirato al nome di una ballerina polacca del tempo (una certa Fanfanou), o che esso possa derivare dalla parola “fanfare”, che dal diciannovesimo secolo iniziò ad essere associata agli spettacoli pubblici. In merito ai personaggi, invece, gli elementi autobiografici presenti nella storia portano alla conclusione che il protagonista maschile sia in parte ispirato allo stesso autore della novella. Un’opera breve ma complessa e ricca di significato, la cui lettura apre le porte a una maggiore conoscenza dello scrittore parigino, del suo animo di puro esteta e di un episodio autobiografico che permette al lettore di accedere a verità universali. Se hace pasar por un enamorado de la actriz, pero se toma tan en serio el papel que cae en su propia trampa.Charles Pierre Baudelaire (1821-1867) fue uno de los más notables poetas franceses del siglo XIX. Su vida estuvo marcada por diversas amarguras y por el anhelo de un afuera imposible de encontrar, convergiendo en un desesperado deseo de muerte sólo conjurable por la poesía. Entre sus obras se destacan Las flores del mal (1857) y Los paraísos artificiales (1860).
