Knut Jomsviking written by Skye Smith and has been published by Skye Smith this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-04-11 with Fiction categories.
Cover Flap English children learn that Knut the Great was a pre-Norman king born of Royal Danish blood and was so conceited as to think that he could command the ocean tides. The rest of Europe learn that he was the Emperor of the North Sea, the Baltic Sea, the Irish Sea and the Channel. Directly or indirectly he ruled most of the peoples living around those seas and thus the trade between them flourished. Knut was not born in England, or even in Denmark, but on an island at the mouth of the Oder River in Wendland (Pomerania) in a fortress town controlled by the legendary Jomsvikings. About the Author Skye Smith is my pen name. My interest in Knut stems from the endless research I did while writing “The Hoodsman” series of historical novels about the Norman invasion of England. That invasion by William the Conqueror was not a quick subjugation of an Anglo-Saxon England, but a long and bitter genocide of an Anglo-Danish England and the destruction of Knut’s great legacy. This is the first novel in the series, so it sets the characters and scene for the entire series. Knut’s story begins with his grandfather, King Harald Bluetooth of Denmark, and the entwined politics of Baltic and Black Seas, and the river trade routes which connect them. The chapter headings identify the dates and places. The Appendix gives historical insight and a list of characters. Enjoy. Other Novels By The Same Author: The Hoodsman – 12 historical adventures set in the Norman conquest. Maya’s Aura – 8 new age adventures while tripping around the world. The Pistoleer – 9 historical adventures set in the English Civil War. Knut – many historical adventures set in the Viking Era. Knut #1 – Jomsviking (980 – 984) Knut #2 – Varangian (986 – 992) Knut #3 – Strandhogg (993 – 994) Knut #4 – Forkbeard’s Peace (995 – 999) Knut #5 – Brice’s Massacre (1000 – 1002 coming soon)

Couples: Building Bridges shows therapists how to successfully apply basic principles of human interaction and communication to help facilitate intimate connections between people. Using the approaches in this book, you will see how the bridge between couples materializes naturally as a result of the combination of respect, truth, careful observations, awareness, and shared information.Contributors in Couples: Building Bridges encourage therapists to bring their own behavior into awareness--to see themselves as the major instrument of change in the therapy process and to recognize that work must begin with themselves before starting to work with couples. However, the book stresses that therapy is not something performed on a couple but rather a process geared toward increasing the range of choice of behavior for clients.Therapists working with couples or with individuals seeking therapy concerning their intimate relationships will find Couples: Building Bridges a valuable reference for promoting healthy, open relationships.

Levolution written by Michael Gunter and has been published by Archway Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-10-07 with Science categories.
Without Levolution, there would be no gravity, stars, or life; but up until now, the self-similar properties these energetic systems has been obscured. Michael Gunter, an ecologist, examines the Levolution process, which underlies a whole new paradigm that explains how the universe works and what it is doing. It is responsible for creating every type of naturally occurring system we know. In easy-to-understand language, Gunter explains how Levolution is based on simple properties of energy flowing in systems. Learning how it works will help you understand: the cosmological relevance of energy and its laws; the contents of the universe as twenty- three levels of increasing, entropically functional order imposed on a single batch of energy; that the universe appears to have a purpose. The end result is an entirely new perspective on what we call order and a new spin on what ancient and recent thinkers have said about the nature of the universe. The newly proposed Laws of Functional Order will equip you to understand the profound role of thermodynamic natural selection, universal evolution, and the cosmic order caused by Levolution.

Inventing Modern written by John H. Lienhard and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-09-18 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Modern is a word much used, but hard to pin down. In Inventing Modern, John H. Lienhard uses that word to capture the furious rush of newness in the first half of 20th-century America. An unexpected world emerges from under the more familiar Modern. Beyond the airplanes, radios, art deco, skyscrapers, Fritz Lang's Metropolis, Buck Rogers, the culture of the open road--Burma Shave, Kerouac, and White Castles--lie driving forces that set this account of Modern apart. One force, says Lienhard, was a new concept of boyhood--the risk-taking, hands-on savage inventor. Driven by an admiration of recklessness, America developed its technological empire with stunning speed. Bringing the airplane to fruition in so short a time, for example, were people such as Katherine Stinson, Lincoln Beachey, Amelia Earhart, and Charles Lindbergh. The rediscovery of mystery powerfully drove Modern as well. X-Rays, quantum mechanics, and relativity theory had followed electricity and radium. Here we read how, with reality seemingly altered, hope seemed limitless. Lienhard blends these forces with his childhood in the brave new world. The result is perceptive, engaging, and filled with surprise. Whether he talks about Alexander Calder (an engineer whose sculptures were exercises in materials science) or that wacky paean to flight, Flying Down to Rio, unexpected detail emerges from every tile of this large mosaic. Inventing Modern is a personal book that displays, rather than defines, an age that ended before most of us were born. It is an engineer's homage to a time before the bomb and our terrible loss of confidence--a time that might yet rise again out of its own postmodern ashes.
