Fear And Envy written by Rita Ransohoff and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Patriarchy categories.

This book is an exploration of man's fear and deeply repressed envy of woman's power and sexuality. By examining the subordination of women in the United States and three developing areas, conflicting attitudes of purity and pollution are evident. The struggle to be a man and the favoritism of boys are taken into account. The triumphs and surrenders of gender battles around the world are given a new insightful look. A thoughtful and provocative book that questions many assumptions. Fear and Envy is a deeply scholarly and insightful book. Dr. Ransohoff has marshaled an immense amount of data in support of her arguments, and she demonstrates with compelling persuasiveness just how envious, resentful, and fearful men are of women's ability to create life, of her body, and of her sexuality. The fact that this is researched and confirmed across cultures is a vastly important psychological finding. We are not just dealing with anomalous cases. Female procreative dynamism has an ineluctable and unavoidable psychological impact on the human male. Men may differ significantly, but whether we are talking about patients, politicians, or executives, whether dealing with religions, cultures, and popular fantasies, Dr. Ransohoff demonstrates how entrenched and disturbing is this masculine problematic. No longer can machismo, patriarchalism, and Don Juanism be seen as signs of strength of confidence. They reveal our weakness, envy, and fear of the feminine, our needs to disparage what terrifies us, to rationalize and disguise our jealously and anxiety. Dr. Ransohoff is no male-basher, nor is her tendentious, ideological, or hostile. She has shed light on a ubiquitous and cross-cultural human problem.

Jealousy and envy permeate the practice of psychoanalytic and psychotherapeutic work. New experience and new relevance of old but neglected ideas about these two feeling states and their origins warrant special attention, both as to theory and practice. Their great complexity and multilayered nature are highlighted by a number of contributions: the very early inception of the "triangular" jealousy situations; the prominence of womb envy and hatred against femininity rooted in the envy of female procreativity; the role of shame and the core of both affects; the massive effects of the embodiment of these feelings in the conscience (i.e., the envious and resentful attacks by the "inner judge" against the self); the attempt to construct a cultic system of sacrifices the would countermand womb envy by an all-male cast of killing, rebirth, redemption, and blissful nourishment; and finally, the projection of envy, jealousy, and their context of shame and self-condemnation in the form of the Evil Eye. Taken together, the contributions to the stunning and insightful volume form a broad spectrum of new insights into the dynamics of two central emotions of rivalry and their clinical and cultural relevance and application.

Strong emotions that we don't know how to handle effectively lie at the core of so many difficulties in the life of the individual. They can affect our relationships with loved ones, and how we function in our work. They play a profound role in how we feel about ourselves, and can even affect our physical health. And we are too often trapped in the dilemma of "expression" versus "repression." Expressing our emotions can often hurt others, but by repressing them – even in the benevolent guise of "self-control" – we risk hurting ourselves. Osho offers a third alternative, which is to understand the roots of our emotions and to develop the knack of watching them and learning from them as they arise, rather than being "taken over" by them. Eventually we find that even the most challenging and difficult situations no longer have the power to provoke us and cause us pain. Osho's unique insight into the workings of the mind, the heart, and the essence or "being" of the individual goes far beyond the understandings of conventional psychology. Over more than three decades of work with people from all walks of life, he has developed simple techniques and insights to help modern-day men and women to rediscover their own inner silence and wisdom.

'Man' himself is the source of the dark forces against which he is constantly struggling. The book shows how is possible to transcend this basic malice by knowing how, what, why and when it arises. Envy, greed, jealousy and narcissism (the flip side of envy) are the essential components of the negative side of the self. Their positive counterparts are gratitude, generosity and compassion. Each element does not exist in isolation from the other. The interplay of these forces of hate and love create the underlying structure of our lives, which on a personal level is called "character" and on the social level is called "culture". When malice predominates the result is murder and mayhem, vandalism and war. This encompasses the blind butchery of our environment and fellow creatures which permeates so many areas of the world, such as Libya, Ireland, Congo, Cambodia, or central London during recent demonstrations. This study will focus on the negative or angry constituents of the personality.

Envy written by Richard H. Smith and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Psychology categories.

For centuries, scholars have argued that envy is the source of much aggressive behavior as well as the root cause of much unhappiness, but it is only recently that there have been attempts to examine the emotion from an empirical perspective. This book is the first of its kind to offer a comprehensive summary of current theoretical and empirical work on envy provided by scholars from a range of disciplines. The first section of the book focuses on the rich theological, philosophical, and evolutionary foundations of scholarly thinking on envy. The second section covers the social psychological work on envy and includes chapters on social comparison processes, definitional challenges, the link between envy and schadenfreude, intergroup envy, and fear of envy. The third section covers research on envy from organizational psychology, experimental economics, marketing, neuroscience, and anthropology. The fourth section focuses on the implications of understanding envy for physical and mental health with chapters on psychoanalytic conceptions of envy, health psychology, and the challenges of coping with envy. A final chapter consists of reflective comments on all the chapters and brings together recurring themes and makes suggestions for future research on envy.

Essay from the year 2008 in the subject Business economics - Miscellaneous, grade: 1,3, Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, language: English, abstract: With day-to-day meetings and constant communication, the modern business world is changing the ways of interpersonal interaction. Especially in flat hierarchies, negotiations serve an important role in resolving conflict situations and have become a valuable instrument both for managerial and operational decision-making within a corporation. Externally, recurring negotiations with businesspeople around the globe have become a standard. Though negotiation skills are highly needed, many people rely on their experience from former negotiations and never have thought of using certain strategies or methods. Few may have read books on strategies in negotiations and apply them in real negotiating events such as compensation bargaining, promotions or business meetings. It is becoming increasingly important to be able to adapt to various negotiation settings, such as differing power among participants, external and internal negotiations and short- or long-term negotiations as well. A good negotiator knows what patterns of behavior to induce in others by using emotions as a tool to reach his goal. While there are some promising approaches, which can help to realize increased joint gains, many exclude emotions as an important way of carrying information. You may even find advice (esp. in the pre-1990s) proposing to avoid the use of emotions, either intrapersonal or interpersonal. The lack of research in this field has been covered since then and is progressing at a high pace. The following essay introduces the most prevalent and important emotions in negotiations and gives useful tips on how to capitalize on both the negative and positive effects of emotions such as fear, anger and envy. This is done both on an intrapersonal as well as an interpersonal level. Ultimately, the EASI model is presented, which provides a universal approach for strategies and tactics regarding emotions which are not necessarily covered here, but also play an important role in negotiations.

Jealousy. We all have to deal with it--both in ourselves and in others. Jealousy is rooted in our natural fears and insecurities. It has damaged relationships since the time of Cain and Abel, and still does today if we let it. In this wise and compassionate book, R.T. Kendall tackles, head-on, the sin that no one likes to admit to. He shows that it is only when we grasp that it is God we should aim to please that we will be able to recognize and overcome jealousy and, like Jesus, be jealous only for the glory of God.
