It's 1933 and Prohibition has given rise to the American gangster--now infamous names like Bonnie and Clyde and John Dillinger. Bank robberies at gunpoint are commonplace and kidnapping for ransom is the scourge of a lawless nation. With local cops unauthorized to cross state lines in pursuit and no national police force, safety for kidnappers is just a short trip on back roads they know well from their bootlegging days. Gangster George "Machine Gun" Kelly and his wife, Kathryn, are some of the most celebrated criminals of the Great Depression. With gin-running operations facing extinction and bank vaults with dwindling stores of cash, Kelly sets his sights on the easy-money racket of kidnapping. His target: rich oilman, Charles Urschel. Enter J. Edgar Hoover, a desperate Justice Department bureaucrat who badly needs a successful prosecution to impress the new administration and save his job. Hoover's agents are given the sole authority to chase kidnappers across state lines and when Kelly bungles the snatch job, Hoover senses his big opportunity. What follows is a thrilling 20,000 mile chase over the back roads of Depression-era America, crossing 16 state lines, and generating headlines across America along the way--a historical mystery/thriller for the ages. Joe Urschel's The Year of Fear is a thrilling true crime story of gangsters and lawmen and how an obscure federal bureaucrat used this now legendary kidnapping case to launch the FBI.

FEAR OF THE GUN: In February 1849, Lorenzo, a Mexican-American war veteran, walks west from Albuquerque toward the Alta California gold fields. Lost in the Ponderosa Pines of the San Francisco Peaks Mountain range, Lorenzo is saved from hypothermia and Cholera by Hanna, a Jewish sheep rancher living alone. Hanna and Lorenzo build a supply station for the surveyors and crews of the Beale Wagon Road, while Hanna schools their three children, Jeremiah, Zachary, and Sarah. Tragedy prompts Lorenzo to join the New Mexico Volunteers during The Civil War. He leaves Zachary (eleven) and Hanna to manage the ranch. Zachary, an adult in 1884, moves back to Flagstaff, vowing justice for the wrongs he has witnessed. Awaiting the arrival of the Deputy U.S. Marshal from Phoenix, Zachary and Hanna confront the violent man from their past alone. FEAR OF THE GUN explores the American Civil War and slavery from an isolated mountain in the frontier wilderness of the Arizona Territory. Historically accurate, this exhilarating story of one man’s relationship with guns has relevance in today’s firearm prevalent American society.

IntroductionAs I compile this book "Guns Control WHITES' FEAR" is a part of our mind which deal with the sub conscious. There are many documented cases of family abuse causing self genocide of their own race, often in the name of trying to protect themselves from a perceive notion another race is going to wipe them out. In reality, your own children will destroy you and themselves, at least under certain circumstances, is the reality.Against this notion, the Second Amendment will protect you by amassing all types of weapons will backfire, possibly from the neglect of responsibility and morality. If these factors are real, it would be difficult to separate the people who are mentally troubled from those trying to protect themselves. Does the influx of other ethnic groups might someday dominate your family? Or is reality catching up to what used to be called the norm when the White Race dominated the Black Race? The abolition of Religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions. The criticism of Religion is, therefore, in embryo, the criticism of that vale of tears of which Religion is the halo. Lenin said that "every Religious idea and every idea of God " is unutterable vileness ... of the most dangerous kind, 'contagion' of the most abominable kind. WAKE UP White people, you are destroying your own Race by amassing all these weapons for your children to kill you and themselves. My summary is Society reap what it sows. When another Race dominates another Race by inflicting hardship and denying them liberty and freedom; this create hate and revenge, which brings out the evil demons from within them. We must one day overcome those evils as we evolve into higher intelligent beings so the future of mankind can evolve into a higher relationship with God.Therlee Gipson

Arms written by Andrew Somerset and has been published by Biblioasis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-09-15 with Social Science categories.

After a fifteen-year hiatus from the world of guns, journalist, sports shooter, and former soldier A.J. Somerset no longer fit in with other firearm enthusiasts. Theirs was a culture much different than the one he remembered: a culture more radical, less tolerant, and more immovable in its beliefs, “as if [each] gun had come with a free, bonus ideological Family Pack [of political tenets], a ready-made identity.” To find the origins of this surprising shift, Somerset began mapping the cultural history of guns and gun ownership in North America. Arms: The Culture and Credo of Gun is the brilliant result. How were firearms transformed from tools used by pioneers into symbols of modern manhood? Why did the NRA’s focus shift from encouraging responsible gun use to lobbying against gun-safety laws? What is the relationship between gun ownership and racism in America? How have the film, television, and video game industries molded our perception of gun violence? When did the fear of gun seizures arise, and how has it been used to benefit arms manufacturers, lobbyists, and the far-right? Few ideas divide communities as much as those involving firearms, and fewer authors are able to tackle the subject with the same authority, humor, and intelligence. Written from the unique perspective of a gun lover who’s disgusted with what gun culture has become, Arms is destined to be one of the most talked-about books of the year.

The Second Amendment And Gun Control written by Kevin Yuill and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-09-14 with History categories.

The Second Amendment, by far the most controversial amendment to the US Constitution, will soon celebrate its 225th anniversary. Yet, despite the amount of ink spilled over this controversy, the debate continues on into the 21st century. Initially written with a view towards protecting the nascent nation from more powerful enemies and preventing the tyranny experienced during the final years of British rule, the Second Amendment has since become central to discussions about the balance between security and freedom. It features in election contests and informs cultural discussions about race and gender. This book seeks to broaden the discussion. It situates discussion about gun controls within contemporary debates about citizenship, culture, philosophy and foreign policy as well as in the more familiar terrain of politics and history. It features experts on the Constitution as well as chapters discussing the symbolic importance of Annie Oakley, the role of firearms in race, and filmic representations of armed Hispanic girl gangs. It asks about the morality of gun controls and of not imposing them. The collection presents a balanced view between those who favour more gun controls and those who would prefer fewer of them. It is infused with the belief that through honest and open debate the often bitter cultural divide on the Second Amendment can be overcome and real progress made. It contains a diverse range of perspectives including, uniquely, a European perspective on this most American of issues.

Let It Bang written by RJ Young and has been published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-23 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

A young black man’s funny and searing quest to learn to shoot, and a fascinating odyssey into race, guns, and self-protection in America. The most RJ Young knew about guns was that they could get him killed. Until, recently married to a white woman and in desperate need of a way to relate to his gun-loving father-in-law, Young does the unimaginable: he accepts Charles’s gift of a Glock. Despite, or because of, the racial rage and fear he experiences among white gun owners (“Ain’t you supposed to be shooting a basketball?”), Young determines to get good, really good, with a gun. Let It Bang is the compelling story of the author’s unexpected obsession—he eventually becomes an NRA-certified pistol instructor—and of his deep dive into the heart of America’s gun culture: what he sees as the domino effect of white fear, white violence, black fear, rinse, repeat. Young’s original reporting on shadow industries like US Law Shield, which insures and defends people who report having shot someone in self-defense, and on the newly formed National African American Gun Association, gives powerful insight into the dynamic. Through indelible profiles, Young brings us up to the current rocketing rise in gun ownership among black Americans, most notably women. Let It Bang is an original look at American gun culture from the inside and the other side—and, most movingly, the story of a young black man’s hard-won nonviolent path to self-protection. “We need more books like this: personal, emotional meditations on gun ownership…showing us all the ways in which guns take on meaning for people, and what happens when those meanings collide.”—Pacific Standard

This paper investigates the gun debate after the Sandy Hook school shooting on the 14th of December 2012. By using media discourse theory by Norman Fairclough, speech act theory by John. R. Searles and discursive psychology theory by Derek Edwards and Jonathan Potter. These discursive tools have been used to analyse two political speeches from Vice President of the United States Joe Biden and National Rifle Association's Vice President Wayne LaPierre. We have investigated the ways the two speakers convey fear and how it affects us. This is followed by an investigation of American media bias and what effect it has on the debate on guns.

Gun control remains one of the hottest topics on America's agenda. Increased violence, gang wars in metropolitan areas, and the prevalence of guns in the United States frequently bring this debate to new crescendos of public concern. How can we find answers that maintain safety while protecting individual liberty? The Samurai, The Mountie, and The Cowboy offers a compelling look at how other democracies have attempted to solve their own gun problems, and what we can learn from these countries.
