Charlene had it all, at least by society's standards... the lifestyle of a baller's girl, the man of her dreams and two beautiful children. Charlene would do anything to maintain her family's status in the hood, including transporting drugs from city to city for her man. But when the Feds catch her at the airport on her way to deliver a shipment, Charlene finds herself doing time at the federal camp in Kentucky. Locked away from her children and the man she decided to take the case for, Charlene experiences a side of the prison life that threatens her very existence. Coupled with the fact that things at home aren't what they once were, Charlene is on the verge of trying to maintain her sanity. Taedra is every lesbian woman's dream on the inside. Fully confident in her sexuality makes Taedra a prime catch in prison. No sooner than her feet hit the grounds, the sharks start circling and Taedra fights not to fall into a trap that could cost her what she worked so hard to build on the outside, her relationship with the love of her life, Kelly. With temptation lurking at every turn, will Taedra have what it takes to maintain her loyalty or will she lose it all? Melody has had it rough. Coming up with a drug addicted mother, Melody found out the hard way that using her body to survive was her only option. That was until she was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime to make more money than she ever dreamed of. Unfortunately when the plan goes south, Melody finds herself in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons, serving time. Just as she thinks the time couldn't get any longer, along comes a love interest... one forbidden but addictive. Melody will do anything in her power to hold onto it but learns along the way that everything that glitters ain't gold... and what's forbidden, is forbidden for a reason.

I wrote this book aiming to wake up the conscience of the youth who had fallen prey in the jaws of a beast called "La vida loca". It is world of fatal illusion scandalized by Holywood and rap music, giving the impression that you can achieve anything you have dreamt of without having to face the consequences that "La vida loca" leaves behind. This is the story of my life, as I was 28 years old and believed I had the world on my feet. I never imagined waking up from this fatal illusion in the dark city, "La cárcel", where I spent the last 28 years of my life. If, after reading this story, you still want to continue the journey of "La vida loca", then you will surely end up in one of three destinations: The hospital, the prison and the cemetery... Where would you want to go? At least God gave me the opportunity to live to tell it, the majority have left with their stories onto eternity.

The Camp written by Ralph Inzunza and has been published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-08-18 with Mexican Americans categories.

"Ralph Inzunza, the politician turned author, dramatizes his time in prison in his recently released book, The Camp. He will be discussing and signing his book at San Diego's Warwick Bookstore in La Jolla on October 6th at 7:30 p.m." This book is published by Floricanto Press.www.floricantopress.comThe Camp is a novel inspired by real events, and the story emerges from many conversations with inmates, who had received ten, fifteen, and twenty-year sentences for non-violent offenses at the Atwater Federal Prison Camp in Central California. The protagonist is a law and order, nerdy politician, former Deputy Mayor of a large California city, who goes to prison for "dishonest service of government," and is feeling sorry for himself until the minute he steps inside the fence. El Mayor, as he was called by the inmates, narrates for us first-hand the unfair plight that many of his fellow Paisas, Chicano inmates, are suffering, and the impact of incarceration on working-class families of color in America. As the only person of Mexican descent at the camp with a college degree, who had never smoked a "joint" in his life, he begins to transform in order to survive, and eventually extract his own judicial revenge. Ralph Inzunza received a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and a Master's Degree in Latin American Studies from San Diego State University. He ran political campaigns and worked on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. for a United States Congressman, and as a Chief of Staff to a San Diego City Councilman. He ran for a seat on the San Diego City Council in 2001 as a vocal advocate for the downtrodden and the Latino community. After two years of elective office, the downtown power brokers decided they had seen enough of his activism. In 2003 the FBI raided his office, and he was indicted on frivolous charges, "dishonest service of the government." He fought the charges for nine years, eventually lost, and was forced to surrender in January of 2012. He served for fourteen months at the Atwater Federal Prison Camp, where he began collecting stories of other inmates, and writing about his life-altering experience at "The Camp."

This collection bundles two of popular author Chuck Colson’s classics into one volume for a great value! The Good Life What constitutes “the good life?” Chuck Colson explores the ways in which people define and live “the pursuit of happiness.” Colson uses fascinating real-life stories to illustrate the philosophies and worldviews by which individuals seek the good life. Colson speaks directly and revealingly about his Watergate years, and he examines the beliefs and assumptions that make up the fabric of our lives. The Good Life searches for answers to the questions we all ask: Who am I? Why am I here? How can I make my life count? How Now Shall We Live? True Christianity goes far beyond John 3:16—beyond private faith and personal salvation. It is nothing less than a framework for understanding all of reality. It is a worldview. In How Now Shall We Live?, the 2000 Gold Medallion winner for best book about Christianity and society, Chuck Colson and Nancy Pearcey show that the great spiritual battle today is a cosmic struggle between competing worldviews. Through inspiring true stories and compelling teaching, they demonstrate how to Expose the false views and values of modern culture Live a more fulfilling life the way God created us to live Contend for the faith by understanding how nonbelievers think Build a society that reflects biblical principles In short, How Now Shall We Live? will give you the confidence you need to make a difference in the world today and most of all in the lives of people around you.

Decades of military oppression in Burma have led to the systematic destruction of thousands of ethnic minority villages, a standing army with one of the world’s highest number of child soldiers, and the displacement of millions of people. Nowhere to Be Home is an eye-opening collection of oral histories exposing the realities of life under military rule. In their own words, men and women from Burma describe their lives in the country that Human Rights Watch has called “the textbook example of a police state.”
