This landmark book, the product of years of research by a team of two dozen historians, reveals that resistance to occupation by Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy during the Second World War was not narrowly delineated by country but startlingly international. Tens of thousands of fighters across Europe resisted ‘transnationally’, travelling to join networks far from their homes. These ‘foreigners’ were often communists and Jews who were already being persecuted and on the move. Others were expatriate business people, escaped POWs, forced labourers or deserters. Their experiences would prove personally transformative and greatly affected the course of the conflict. From the International Brigades in Spain to the onset of the Cold War and the foundation of the state of Israel, they played a significant part in a period of upheaval and change during the long Second World War.

A startling but absolutely accurate history of the EU - a truly fascist organisation which was designed by Mussolini, Hitler and Funk (Hitler's economics advisor). Other senior Nazis helped plan the EU. This book gives the details of precisely how and when they did it. Hitler invented the phrase United States of Europe. Goering devised the name European Economic Community. The euro was Funk's idea. And Heydrich, one of the main architects of the Holocaust, published an early version of The Treaty of Rome.EU lovers won't like this book (and will doubtless deny its truths) but it is all accurate and none of it has been denied or contradicted by the EU or other historians.

In 1946 many Jewish soldiers returned to their homes in England imagining that they had fought and defeated the forces of fascism in Europe. Yet in London they found a revived fascist movement inspired by Sir Oswald Mosley and stirring up agitation against Jews and communists. Many felt that the government, the police and even the Jewish Board of Deputies were ignoring the threat; so they had to take matters into their own hands, by any means necessary. Forty-three Jewish servicemen met together and set up a group that tirelessly organised, infiltrated meetings, and broke up street demonstrations to stop the rebirth of the far right. The group included returned war heroes; women who went undercover; and young Jews, such as hairdresser Vidal Sassoon, seeking adventure. From 1947, the 43 Group grew into a powerful troop that could muster hundreds of fighters turning meetings into mass street brawls at short notice. The history of the 43 Group is not just a gripping story of a forgotten moment in Britain's postwar history; it is also a timely lesson in how to confront fascism, and how to win.

This book focuses on the different fascist movements which have existed in Britain during the twentieth century from the British Fascists of the 1920s to the British National Party of the 1990s. Three main themes are covered in the book: an outline of the policies, tactics and ideologies of the different movements; a discussion of the notion of failure, and how that term should be applied to British fascism; and coverage of the different strengths of British political society which are seen to have prevented a breakthrough of British fascism in the arena of electoral politics.

Journalist Patrick Strickland provides on-the-ground profiles of the unique characters involved in anti-fascist struggles in various countries across Europe. The left and its anti-authoritarian variants were fighting far-right populism and neo-Nazis long before the mainstream media became aware of such groups. Stickland bases his profiles in their historical context, explaining the roots and gains of the far-right, as well as the history of anti-fascist efforts and how they inform today’s struggles. Each profile, ranging from a 71-year-old grandmother armed with cans of spray paint to street-fighting youth, provides a window into the broader anti-fascist movement in each country, highlighting the creative tactics diverse individuals employ to fight hatred and white supremacy in their communities.
