A standalone murder mystery story set in Promise Falls from the author of FIND YOU FIRST For ex-cop turned private investigator Cal Weaver, this was not exactly the biggest case of his career; in fact, he only took it on because Greta Carlson was a friend of a friend. Greta's sixteen-year-old son Chandler was in trouble at school because of a short story he'd written. Admittedly the story featured a boy bludgeoning his best friend to death with a baseball bat because of an argument over a girl. But still, a story? Mrs Carlson wanted Cal to dig up some dirt on the high school principal she could use as leverage to get Chandler reinstated, and Cal told her in no uncertain terms that he wasn't going to go down that road. But that wasn't quite the end of the story. Chandler's best friend Mike seems to be missing, and at the same time Cal can't shake the feeling that Chandler may have had some help in completing his writing assignment. Life, it seems, may have imitated art after all, but figuring out who's the author and who are just characters in the drama will take all of Cal's critical skills to determine.

When John, a journalism major, loses hope his last semester at Bingham University, he reluctantly boards a plane bound for California to reunite with a mother he successfully avoided the past four years. But when John locates an aged and worn out wallet, triggering a conversation with the window seat passenger, Danny Sprune, the dreaded trip becomes the most rewarding story a journalist could cover. After realizing that the contents of the wallet are the backbone needed for an acceptance speech Sprune is struggling with, John agrees to craft the speech himself, while listening to Sprune tell the story. It begins with the night he saved the life of Jack Carroll, a successful businessman, who was beaten and mugged for contents contained in a satchel. John finds himself increasingly drawn in to Sprune's tale about a group of people who were down on their luck yet, came together to help Jack pursue his dream and recreate the business plan stolen from him. As the group continues to envision a better life, they ride the coattails of their successful entrepreneur to move the business plan forward. But during this process it is not the success of the plan that changes them; it's the foundations of their character being molded by their mentor. A moving, inspirational novel about hard work, destiny and the way random encounters with strangers can alter the course of life forever, THE FINAL ASSIGNMENT will speak to any reader who has ever wondered what it truly takes to pursue a dream.

During the Vietnam War, Bartlett was told by his commanding officer that he was "either a natural-born killer or natural-born soldier." His experience with killing led him to his career. After 29 years, Bartlett was feeling a change within himself because of his desire to be safe and secure with the woman he loved. Soon he decides to retire and on his own terms. He realizes his biggest challenge might not be the next assignment but how to retire on a tropical island with her. The problem is most hit men don't retire; they either go to jail or get killed. When a mob attorney contacts him for an assignment, Bartlett realizes this will be his last. Book Description: Your first assignment: Take the new, revamped Space Shuttle to Mars and examine the mysterious “face” structure. While you’re there, look at the pyramid-like objects, also. Your second assignment: Continue the voyage to Jupiter and look for signs of intelligent life. DO NOT LAND UNLESS NECESSARY. You will be informed of your final assignment after arriving at Jupiter. For eight adventurers from different backgrounds and different professions, it sounded easy. But from the takeoff, it seemed doomed: Objects are not stored properly for launch; a new engine they claimed could get them to Mars on less fuel remains untested; and a crew of non-astronauts assembled just for this mission includes an engineer with a serious self-esteem problem, a trigger-happy Marine, and a man who makes a living investigating UFOs. Astrophysicist Nancy Villareal and her hometown friend, Joe Rommel, confront the mystery of the third assignment. All the answers lie hidden in darkness, but first they must accomplish the first two assignments—leading them into a dark world of secrets and lies.
