Savremene korporativne finansije obuhvataju tri područja: 1) finansiranje, tj. obezbeđenje potrebnog kapitala za nesmetano odvijanje procesa aktivnosti preduzeća, 2) investiranje, tj. alokaciju raspoloživog kapitala na alternativne upotrebe i 3) upravljanje kapitalom. Orijentacija na kreiranje i održavanje vrednosti preduzeća, odnosno na veličinu i izvesnost očekivanog novčanog toka, pred finansijskog menadžera postavlja zahtev za pronalaženje adekvatnog pristupa donošenju investicionih i finansijskih odluka. Umesto kratkoročnim finansijskim kategorijama, kao što su dobitak, stopa prinosa, koeficijenti obrta ili zarada po akciji, korporativne finansije se bave problemima donošenja investicionih i finansijskih odluka i njihovim uticajem na diferencijalni neto novčani tok, odnosno vrednost preduzeća u dugom roku merenu diskontovanim neto novčanim tokom. Cilj savremenih korporativnih finansija se često utvrđuje kao maksimiranje vrednosti (rentabilnosti) uz održavanje zadovoljavajućeg nivoa tekuće likvidnosti. S tim u vezi je neophodno da operativni ciljevi, strategije, procesi, analitičke tehnike, pristupi merenju performansi, organizaciono ponašanje i kultura budu podređeni tom cilju. Budući da se teorija i praksa korporativnih finansija brzo menjaju i unapređuju, ova monografija je pisana u nastojanju da izrazi suštinu i kontroverze savremenog finansijskog mišljenja. Imajući u vidu strategijsku dimenziju savremenih korporativnih finansija, autori su najviše pažnje posvetili analizi i objašnjenju dugoročnih aspekata investicionih i finansijskih odluka i njihovog uticaja na vrednost preduzeća. Monografija „Korporativne finansije“ je prevashodno namenjena studentima osnovnih studija ekonomskih fakulteta, ali i svima koji se u svakodnevnoj poslovnoj praksi bave problemima upravljanja finansijama preduzeća. U očekivanju da će ova monografija doprineti boljem razumevanju složene problematike korporativnih finansija, autori su otvoreni za sve konstruktivne sugestije naučne i stručne javnosti.
