The boundary element method (BEM) is a modern numerical technique, which has enjoyed increasing popularity over the last two decades, and is now an established alternative to traditional computational methods of engineering analysis. The International Conference on Fracture of Concrete and Rock was organized by the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM) subdivision on Fracture of Concrete and Rock and RILEM Committee 89-FMT Fracture MechanicS of Concrete; Test Methods.
