Algebra I Essentials For Dummies (9781119590965) was previously published as Algebra I Essentials For Dummies (9780470618349). While this version features a new Dummies cover and design, the content is the same as the prior release and should not be considered a new or updated product. With its use of multiple variables, functions, and formulas algebra can be confusing and overwhelming to learn and easy to forget. Perfect for students who need to review or reference critical concepts, Algebra I Essentials For Dummies provides content focused on key topics only, with discrete explanations of critical concepts taught in a typical Algebra I course, from functions and FOILs to quadratic and linear equations. This guide is also a perfect reference for parents who need to review critical algebra concepts as they help students with homework assignments, as well as for adult learners headed back into the classroom who just need a refresher of the core concepts. The Essentials For Dummies Series Dummies is proud to present our new series, The Essentials For Dummies. Now students who are prepping for exams, preparing to study new material, or who just need a refresher can have a concise, easy-to-understand review guide that covers an entire course by concentrating solely on the most important concepts. Finite Mathematics As The Foundation Of Classical Mathematics And Quantum Theory written by Felix Lev and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-11-03 with Science categories.

This book delves into finite mathematics and its application in physics, particularly quantum theory. It is shown that quantum theory based on finite mathematics is more general than standard quantum theory, whilst finite mathematics is itself more general than standard mathematics. As a consequence, the mathematics describing nature at the most fundamental level involves only a finite number of numbers while the notions of limit, infinite/infinitesimal and continuity are needed only in calculations that describe nature approximately. It is also shown that the concepts of particle and antiparticle are likewise approximate notions, valid only in special situations, and that the electric charge and baryon- and lepton quantum numbers can be only approximately conserved.

How do we conquer uncertainty, insecurity, and anxiety over college mathematics? You can do it, and this book can help. The author provides various techniques, learning options, and pathways. Students can overcome the barriers that thwart success in mathematics when they prepare for a positive start in college and lay the foundation for success. Based on interviews with over 50 students, the book develops approaches to address the struggles and success these students shared. Then the author took these ideas and experiences and built a process for overcoming and achieving when studying not only the mathematics many colleges and universities require as a minimum for graduation, but more to encourage reluctant students to look forward to their mathematics courses and even learn to embrace additional ones Success breeds interest, and interest breeds success. Math anxiety is based on test anxiety. The book provides proven strategies for conquering test anxiety. It will help find ways to interest students in succeeding in mathematics and assist instructors on pathways to promote student interest, while helping them to overcome the psychological barriers they face. Finally, the author shares how math is employed in the “real world,” examining how both STEM and non- STEM students can employ math in their lives and careers. Ultimately, both students and teachers of mathematics will better understand and appreciate the difficulties and how to attack these difficulties to achieve success in college mathematics. Brian Cafarella, Ph.D. is a mathematics professor at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. He has taught a variety of courses ranging from developmental math through pre- calculus. Brian is a past recipient of the Roueche Award for teaching excellence. He is also a past recipient of the Ohio Magazine Award for excellence in education. Brian has published in several peer- reviewed journals. His articles have focused on implementing best practices in developmental math and various math pathways for community college students. Additionally, Brian was the recipient of the Article of the Year Award for his article, “Acceleration and Compression in Developmental Mathematics: Faculty Viewpoints” in the Journal of Developmental Education.

INFINITY IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS… Infinity is commonly assumed to be a logical concept, reliable for conducting mathematics, describing the Universe, and understanding the divine. Most of us are educated to take for granted that there exist infinite sets of numbers, that lines contain an infinite number of points, that space is infinite in expanse, that time has an infinite succession of events, that possibilities are infinite in quantity, and over half of the world’s population believes in a divine Creator infinite in knowledge, power, and benevolence. According to this treatise, such assumptions are mistaken. In reality, to be is to be finite. The implications of this assessment are profound: the Universe and even God must necessarily be finite. The author makes a compelling case against infinity, refuting its most prominent advocates. Any defense of the infinite will find it challenging to answer the arguments laid out in this book. But regardless of the reader’s position, Forever Finite offers plenty of thought-provoking material for anyone interested in the subject of infinity from the perspectives of philosophy, mathematics, science, and theology.

Understanding The Infinite written by Shaughan Lavine and has been published by Harvard University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998-01-13 with Philosophy categories.

How can the infinite, a subject so remote from our finite experience, be an everyday tool for the working mathematician? Blending history, philosophy, mathematics, and logic, Shaughan Lavine answers this question with exceptional clarity. Making use of the mathematical work of Jan Mycielski, he demonstrates that knowledge of the infinite is possible, even according to strict standards that require some intuitive basis for knowledge.
