Fire Under My Feet seeks to expose the diverse, significant, and often under-researched historical and developmental phenomena revealed by studies in the dance systems of the African Diaspora. In the book, written documentation and diverse methodologies are buttressed by the experiences of those whose lives are built around the practice of African diaspora dance. Replete with original perspectives, this book makes a significant contribution to dance and African diaspora scholarship simultaneously. Most important, it highlights the work of researchers from Ecuador, India, Puerto Rico, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and it exposes under-researched and omitted voices of the African diaspora dance world of the aforesaid locations and Puerto Rico, Columbia, and Trinidad as well. This study showcases a blend of scholars, dance practitioners, and interdisciplinarity, and engages the relationship between African diaspora dance and the fields of history, performance studies, critical race theory, religion, identity, and black agency.

This is the sequel to Fire at my Feet - Five Years on the Fire Line. I've dedicated almost all my life to Oregon forests assigned to me. I fought a hard battle on behalf of those trees for close to forty years. The majority of the trees are still out there, healthy and growing well. In 2017, I began to write down a few memories from my long career of Professional Forester. My early literary goal was to share with my kids and grand-kids something I value - important things I know about forestry and wildland firefighting.I've always been a windy story-teller, so hope readers will forgive my unconventional phrases and grammatical errors. I'm just a back-woodsy kind. I have a lot of experience to back-up a dusty college degree, and I am proud of the excellent outcome from the actions taken in the past. Right now, many forest practices are being dictated by popular and political pressure, or maybe by legal-types looking for easy cash. House plants living in some big city might survive the current wide-spread treatments recommended (or their lack), but my Oregon woods are taking a beating. Agenda-driven folks keep yelling so many wrong assumptions and misinformation about forests that I have to respond. I hope when this is read, things will be better. Instead of the despair of the recent past, I want to share the hope I have for Oregon's forests. Maybe some entertainment and a little education will happen at the same time. Thanks for reading...

John Crow S Devil written by Marlon James and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-09-10 with Fiction categories.

The debut novel of the winner of the Man Booker Prize 2015 Jamaica, 1957 On a day beginning with a bad omen – black vultures, known locally as John Crows, crash through the local church windows – a handsome and charismatic stranger drags the village preacher from his pulpit and takes over both church and congregation. Promising vengeance and damnation, he wastes no time delivering both, and in doing so starts a power struggle that sets the village of Gibbeah on a path to destruction. With language as taut as classic works by Cormac McCarthy, and a richness reminiscent of early Toni Morrison, John Crow’s Devil is a terrifying and moving novel about religious mania, redemption, sexual obsession and the eternal struggle between the righteous and the wicked.
