Basic Control Volume Finite Element Methods For Fluids And Solids written by Vaughan R Voller and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-02-04 with Mathematics categories.
The Control Volume Finite Element Method (CVFEM) is a hybrid numerical method, combining the physics intuition of Control Volume Methods with the geometric flexibility of Finite Element Methods. The concept of this monograph is to introduce a common framework for the CVFEM solution so that it can be applied to both fluid flow and solid mechanics problems. To emphasize the essential ingredients, discussion focuses on the application to problems in two-dimensional domains which are discretized with linear-triangular meshes. This allows for a straightforward provision of the key information required to fully construct working CVFEM solutions of basic fluid flow and solid mechanics problems.

This book treats the derivation and implementation of a unified particle finite element formulation for the solution of fluid and solid mechanics, Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) and coupled thermal problems. FSI problems are involved in many engineering branches, from aeronautics to civil and biomedical engineering. The numerical method proposed in this book has been designed to deal with a large part of these. In particular, it is capable of simulating accurately free-surface fluids interacting with structures that may undergo large displacements, suffer from thermo-plastic deformations and even melt. The method accuracy has been successfully verified in several numerical examples. The thesis also contains the application of the proposed numerical strategy for the simulation of a real industrial problem. This thesis, defended at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in 2015, was selected (ex aequo) as the best PhD thesis in numerical methods in Spain for the year 2015 by the Spanish Society of Numerical Methods in Engineering (SEMNI).

Clinical Mechanics In The Gut An Introduction written by Hans Gregersen and has been published by Bentham Science Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-01-25 with Medical categories.
The gastrointestinal tract is a series of organs each with distinct mechanical functions. Each organ within the system brings food contents in the gut lumen to the site of absorption through separate mechanical functions. These mechanical functions are generated by a fine-tuned interaction between neuronal networks and active muscle layers. The passive components of the gastrointestinal wall such as the collagen-rich submucosa also play an important role in these mechanical actions. Clinical Mechanics in The Gut provides a thorough understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of the physiological function and pathophysiology of the gastrointestinal tract. The book first gives an introduction to readers about the physical geometry of the gastrointestinal tract followed by a detailed explanation of biomechanical theory and its application to approximating and modeling gut mechanics. This is expanded further by detailed explanations of gut muscle and motor nerve functions in proceeding chapters. A biomechanical evaluation of disorders of regulatory mechanisms such as achalasia and Hirschsprung disease and disorders of effector mechanisms such as reflux disease, systemic sclerosis of the gastrointestinal tract and colonic diverticular disease are also included. Readers will, therefore, gain an understanding about clinical problems in gastroenterology from a bioengineering and modeling perspective. Clinical Mechanics in The Gut is a useful reference for gastroenterology researchers, biomedical engineers and systems biologists seeking to understand the physiology of the gut and applying this knowledge to surgical procedures, computer-based modeling systems and robotics.

Application And Extension Of Numerical Methods In Heating Pipeline written by Qian Xu and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-02-19 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book is a summary of the author's pioneering work on the theory of heating pipelines and its application expansion over the years, trying to establish a complete logical system from the basic theory of pipelines to the application of heating pipelines to the innovation and expansion of large-diameter energy transmission pipelines. These esoteric fundamental theories are linked to practical applications, and numerical simulations are used to help readers understand the problems faced by pipelines in engineering practice. The book consists of four chapters, the first chapter describes the basic concepts of district heating system, related standards, development history, facing problems and future prospects, while for the basic characteristics of district heating pipe network installation and laying methods made an introduction; followed by the second chapter summarizes and organizes the pipeline safety research of fluid-solid heat, elastic-plasticity and other basic theories, as well as heating pipeline thermal insulation system heat loss and the economic evaluation of theory and so on. Based on the basic theory of pipeline, the third and fourth chapters introduce several typical pipeline application cases in detail, and each case includes modelling, solving, and result analysis, which can provide readers with technical references and idea guidelines in the field of pipeline research. The third chapter of the different structures of the heating pipeline from the safety and economic aspects of a detailed numerical study; the fourth chapter in the heating pipeline on the basis of energy transportation pipeline, transportation medium from the original hot water, hot steam to the oil and gas, specifically introduced various types of large-diameter energy transportation pipeline under the action of different loads of the dynamic response characteristics. It has important theoretical significance for enriching and developing the basic theory of pipeline and the expansion of all kinds of pipeline applications, and at the same time, it provides technical guidance for the safe, stable, economic and efficient operation of all kinds of long-distance pipelines, such as heating pipelines and energy transmission and transportation pipelines. It helps readers to systematically and comprehensively understand the basic theories of elasticity and plasticity, fluid-solid-thermal coupling, and economic evaluation of pipelines, and at the same time provides readers with new research ideas and technical means from the perspective of scientific research.
