Esta obra describe los principios fundamentales que rigen el funcionamiento de las bombas y las instalaciones hidráulicas más usuales, sus características operativas y los criterios de diseño y selección. El contenido del libro se estructura en tres grupos básicos. Los dos primeros temas tratan de la mecánica de los fluidos y sus propiedades: los principios y las leyes de conservación, el análisis dimensional y las condiciones especiales del flujo. Los temas tercero y cuarto se ocupan de las bombas hidráulicas: el tercer tema se centra en su descripción funcional, mientras que el cuarto se dedica a la teoría general que fundamenta el diseño de las turbomáquinas.
