It was not until 1961 that Foucault published his first major book, History of Madness. He had already been working as an academic for a decade, teaching in Lille and Paris, writing, organizing cultural programmes and lecturing in Uppsala, Warsaw and Hamburg. Although he published little in this period, Foucault wrote much more, some of which has been preserved and only recently become available to researchers. Drawing on archives in France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and the USA, this is the most detailed study yet of Foucault’s early career. Le présent ouvrage tente la mise en oeuvre de l'analyse structurelle pour vingt psaumes, soit les Pss. 52, 54-60, 108, 62, 64-66, 78-80, 91-92, et le grand Ps. 119. Son ambition est de montrer à quel point l'architecture de ces textes en conditionne et en ouvre l'interprétation. Les considérer comme des ensembles structurés, faisant jouer entre les diverses unités des rapports multiples et ordonnés, est nécessaire à leur compréhension. A l'occasion on montre comment l'analyse structurelle permet de mieux saisir l'enchaînement des psaumes consécutifs dans le Psautier, ou encore les rapports entre psaumes opérant entre eux d'importants emprunts (57, 60, 108). Ici sera donc pris en compte en priorité le texte lui-même tel qu'il se présente à nous, afin de saisir ces clefs d'interprétation qui y sont inscrites. L'ouvrage devrait retenir l'attention non seulement des spécialistes des Psaumes, mais encore de quiconque entend les connaître de près. Les études qu'il contient ont été à cette fin basées sur une traduction littérale de chaque psaume, sans renoncer pour autant à recourir, chaque fois que cela s'est avéré nécessaire, au texte hébreu.

La vidéosurveillance fait désormais partie des outils utilisés dans les politiques sécuritaires. Les récentes évolutions techniques rendent son usage de plus en plus intrusif dans la vie privée mais aussi dans l'espace public. Cet ouvrage explore une dimension encore inédite de la vidéosurveillance. Elle réside dans le caractère automatique de la détection des « comportements anormaux » dans l'espace public. L'anormalité est un enjeu fondamental dans la définition de la citoyenneté, en établissant une frontière entre ce qui est jugé acceptable et ce qui doit être réprimé. Or, des projets de recherches appliqués récents tentent de coupler l'usage de la vidéosurveillance avec une évaluation automatique de l'anormalité. Désormais, les algorithmes contribuent à définir ces comportements anormaux et donc, dessinent les figures de l’anormal. L’automaticité modifie considérablement les capacités d’appréciation de la normalité, jusqu’ici de la compétence du juge et des pouvoirs publics. La convergence des techniques (vidéo, base de données informatiques...) contribue à modifier profondément les frontières de l’espace public et, par conséquent, de l’espace démocratique. L’ouvrage présente les débats interdisciplinaires qui ont eu lieu à l’occasion d’une application technique actuellement en cours. S’interroger sur ce qu’est un comportement anormal permet de rappeler les modalités d’élaboration de la normalité dans une démocratie.

Video Game Chronotopes and Social Justice examines how the chronotope, which literally means “timespace,” is an effective interpretive lens through which to understand the cultural and ideological significance of video games.
