During the early 1880s, a wave of peasant unrest swept the mountainous Huasteca region of northeastern Mexico. The rebels demanded political autonomy for their pueblos, protection for their churches, and restoration of the land, water, and foraging rights that were a part of their heritage—issues with nationwide implications that foreshadowed the revolution of 1910. This account traces the material and ideological roots of the rebellion to nineteenth-century liberal policies of land privatization and to the growth of a radical anarchocommunist agrarian consciousness. Elite landholders had held sway in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí since colonial times. In the nineteenth century their seizures of agricultural lands clashed with the rising political consciousness of the Huastecos, who rose up to fight for their way of life. Saka further traces the roots of the Huasteco rebellion to the grassroots religiosity that had developed in the course of centuries of local clerical leadership as well as to a nationalism derived from Huastecan participation in Mexico’s wars against the United States in the 1840s and France in the 1860s.

The God Revolution takes a fresh approach to the roots of Christianity. It asks the reader to explore and join a revolution in lifestyle and thought rooted both in a personal wager on God as the source of a meaningful hope and in the story of Jesus of Nazareth. This book invites us to see Jesus' own Hebrew Bible something like the way he himself did. Then it turns our attention forward to the surprising impact Jesus had on those who followed him, how they reinvented the ancient world, and how we might reinvent ours. It is written for explorers, rather than those already weary of the form of religion they have known.

Felt the pull of God? Answered it? Freaked out about what to do next? As Brian Tome was talking to a new Christ-follower in his office, he realized that he had nothing on his bookshelf that would give her the "straight talk" on the radical new life she was about to begin. So he penned Welcome to the Revolution a bold, honest, humorous guide to joining the ever-advancing Kingdom of God. "The Revolution," as Tome calls the Christian life, is already underway, and while it is both exhilarating and fulfilling, it's challenging and confusing at times. This book will guide the reader from the basics (navigating through Christian kitsch at the bookstore) to the practical (Bible reading and building community) to the profound (concepts of forgiveness and using imagination in prayer). To those people who have previously dismissed the "Christian" life, or those who want to learn more about God in an accessible way, this book will be the breath that clears the air and shows them how to follow a Revolutionary God.

This groundbreaking book shows that a revolution is already taking place within the church—one that will affect every believer in America. Committed, born-again Christians are exiting the established church in massive numbers. Why are they leaving? Where are they going? And what does this mean for the future of the church? Drawing upon extensive data, renowned researcher and author George Barna predicts how this revolution will affect the organized church, how Christ's body of believers should react, and how individuals who are considering leaving (or those who have already left) can respond. For leaders working for positive change in the church, and for believers struggling to find a spiritual community and worship experience that resonates . . . get ready, because a revolution is here.

God has always been interested in turning unlikely people into his most fervent followers. Prostitutes and pagans, tax collectors and tricksters. The more unlikely, the more it seemed to please God and to demonstrate his power, might, and mercy. America in the 1960s and 1970s was full of unlikely people--men and women who had rejected the stuffy religion of their parents' generation, who didn't follow the rules, didn't fit in. The perfect setting for the greatest spiritual awakening of the 20th century. With passion and purpose, Greg Laurie and Ellen Vaughn tell the amazing true story of the Jesus Movement, an extraordinary time of mass revival, renewal, and reconciliation. Setting fascinating personal stories within the context of one of the most tumultuous times in modern history, the authors draw important parallels with our own time of spiritual apathy or outright hostility, offering hope for the next generation of unlikely believers--and for the next great American revival. Those who lived through the Jesus Revolution will find here an inspiring reminder of the times and people that shaped their lives and faith. Younger readers will discover a forgotten part of recent American history and, along with it, a reason to believe that God is not finished with their generation.

Revolution written by Michael L. Brown and has been published by Charisma Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-06 with Religion categories.

A revolution of repentance by the power of the Holy Spirit is needed in the church to bring renewal to a hurting nation. After reading Revolution you will understand what a biblical revolution looks like and how to implement it, starting within your own heart, and going outward from there. This book is not a call to the violent overthrow of the government, nor is it a call to take up arms, nor is it a call to political activism in and of itself. It is a call to something far more extreme, a call to live out the gospel with all its radical claims, a call for the people of God to impact this generation with the prophetic message of repentance, a call to spark the most sweeping counterculture movement in our nation’s history, a call to take back the moral high ground that has been stolen from under our feet, a call to follow Jesus by life or by death. Revolution answers such questions as: What is the role of the Christian and the church during these tumultuous times? How are we to respond to the racial upheaval happening in our nation? What is the church’s role in healing the divide in our fractured, divided country? Dr. Brown turns up the volume in this call to God’s remnant people to pray, repent, and act according to the teachings of Jesus--who is calling us to holy revolution.

The Love Revolution written by Joyce Meyer and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-09-22 with Religion categories.

Joyce Meyer is not satisfied with the status quo. She believes that we each need to become a revolutionary and practice love every day. And if Joyce has her way, the revolution will spread -- person by person, house by house, town by town, until the old culture of selfishness and greed gives way to a new culture of concern for others. The book is a revolutionaries' manual, a hands-on primer for bringing the Golden Rule to life in the twenty-first century. Meyer starts out by giving some stunning statistics. Right now. . .210,000 children will die this week because of poverty; 640 million children do not have adequate shelter; every day, 3,000 children are abducted into the sex-trafficking industry; every day, 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes. She goes on to say that although crisis is global, the solution is local. We can't solve the world's problems, but that isn't a reason to remain idle. Love Revolution focuses on personal behavior on the local scale. It's not just a call to action; it is a call to being: being the person who goes out of your way to encourage someone who's out of hope; being the one who smiles at a stranger; being the one who is willing to do something for nothing. The paradox: when we do something for nothing, what we often get is something far greater.
